I always worry about doing any damage to my Guitars while working on them, when you need to use a Plier this is the only one I will use.No tool is a fail safe, but it will help in not marring your hardware.

I like these quality set of pliers. The replaceable soft jaws take the worry out of harming parts that don't need to be scratched or marred.

These pliers are quality made in Japan and is a great addition to your tool stash!

Recommended--and a good price

How very pleased I was to see Stewart-MacDonald offer these pliers! I already own the needle-nose model and so at the introductory price, I snagged two. The soft nylon jaw liners have a versatile combination of notches and teeth including a groove in the nose for grabbing things end-on. The pliers overall are stamped steel with black paint finish but the slip-joint pivot and other machined parts are very smooth and nicely done.
These are not likely to damage the finish on guitar parts but some care must be taken, for the soft part is held into the steel jaws by a steel flat head screw. There is plenty of power available so crushing fragile parts is possible. It is not too hard to imagine fixing up some wooden, brass, or zinc jaws to go into the recess for those more challenging mechanical tasks.

I've alway used rags before

Now I don't have to worry about scratching delicate surfaces - I always used rags or paper in my pliers before but they are not even and sometimes the pliers would cut through. No worries now.

Good tool for the arsenal

Since it was on sale, I jumped on it. I had a couple of regular pliers that I had "taped up" for special circumstances. These worked very well especially on frozen tuners. My only issue was that the plastic jaws did mar up and indent on a couple of instances but I purchased an extra set of replaceable jaws and they are good as new. Make sure you invest in a backup set of jaws.

Bought this for the guitar workbench. Great for gripping metal parts for cleaning without marring surfaces. Bought a second one for the house, have run into all kinds of uses for it. Replaceable plastic teeth are a major plus, too.

Better than other home fixes I have tried.

I have used the Soft Touch Pliers twice so far, loosening bridge components on a vintage Gretsch in order to clean and adjust it and installing new tuners on a neighbor’s violin. Worked great - no scratches = no drama. Thanks StewMac!

Must have

I bought the pliers for sensitive work on guitars (tuning knobs, etc.), anything that I don't want scratched. The day the pliers arrived I used it to attached a new powder coated antenna to my jeep. Did the job. No marks or scratches. Since then I have used the pliers to attached new knobs to tuning keys on a classical guitar. Works as advertised.
