About This Item

Fixes the nastiest cracks!
A cracked guitar side is a difficult fix, especially when the sides of the split are uneven. Here's how to pull a crack together and glue it neatly and permanently.

1. Close the crack
Our Crack Clamp uses a guitar tuner on a smooth polyethylene base. With strong thin wire, it winches the crack shut. The polyethylene won't scratch guitars, and glue doesn't stick to it.

2. Glue a perfect wooden cleat
Something new to the world of lutherie is our hardened steel Cleat Cutter. It creates perfectly round patching cleats from any wood you choose. Each cleat has a center hole for the Crack Clamp's wire. Put glue on the cleat and tighten the crack closed for a neat, professional repair.

Pump glue into the crack
Send glue deep into the crack by using the air gun with your compressor. Gentle pressure (about 10psi) does the trick.

For very long cracks, use more than one Crack Clamp at the same time.

Complete set includes:
Crack Clamp
Cleat Cutter
Air Gun (standard 1/4" NPT thread for air hose)
Suction Cup
Pin Vise
Wire
Clamp Tie Block

Oh so nifty!

I've been aware of this and similar gadgets for a long time. Always thought someday I'd make one. Two Martins with serious side cracks came in the shop so I ordered one of these to see how it worked. I should have ordered six so I could repair a long crack all at once. Ordering five more right now because it's Winter (Illinois) and cracked guitars are starting to roll into the shop almost daily. Of course there's still a place for clamps, magnets, etc. but this has become my go to tool.

I was working on a bowl back mandolin and accidentally dropped it while I was routing the binding ledge around the replacement top. Ouch! I orederd the kit and it worked like a charm you can't see the original crack at all.
Thanks guys I couldn't have fixed it without this set.

Heretofore, I had little experience with top crack repair. This tool is well designed and works exactly as described. I highly recommend this tool to anyone with top crack issues. It worked for me!

This is a superb set of tools well thought out and designed. The drill press cleat cutter works extremely well. Especially for those times that it is not desirable to remove an instrument top, there is a great solution using this tool set. I have even used the process on violin cracks. Terry Ferster. Just What I Needed

A customer brought in a brand new Bouzouki that got damaged in shipping from Greece. The round back that was cracked and uneven presented a challenge as far as how to clamp it. The crack clamp in combination with the other tools pulled the crack closed and the seam glued evenly. With a little wood filler and some finish touchup, it turned out great. My customer was amazed at how I was able to make the crack disappear with hardly any visible signs of the damage. Making customers happy is what this business is all about and this tool made it happen. - Alan Morrison, AM Guitar Works

I just used this on 2 back repairs and it worked perfect at 10 PSI. Much easier than trying to massage/pump the glue into the crack my old way.
