Gripper Truss Rod Wrenches

About This Item

Dang! Somebody used the wrong size wrench, and now you can't adjust that worn Allen truss rod nut. Fear not, our Gripper wrenches can save the day!

Each wrench has a 3/8"-long end that tapers from slightly undersize to slightly oversize, giving you a snug fit to turn the nut and avoid a costly replacement job.

Our veteran guitar technicians developed these high quality steel truss rod wrenches. The length, comfortable rubberized handles, durability and variety of sizes let you perform formerly difficult truss rod adjustments with ease. The straight wrenches are 12-1/2" long, keeping your knuckles safely away from the peghead.

#6210-G Gripper wrench has a special angled handle for tuner clearance on 6-in-line pegheads. For 1/8" Allen nut; 2" reach.

Special notes for the soundhole wrenches
4mm is for Hot Rod truss rods. #6110-G is for pre-August 2007 Martins; #6114-G and #6212-G are for later Martins. Triple-bend wrenches provide clearance under the guitar's braces.

I needed a tool for adjusting the relief on my Strat and Tele. This is perfect!

I was skeptical...

By

I didn't think this would really work, since the taper that is supposed to be in the bit wasn't visible, but sure enough, it worked flawlessly. Saved a neck that otherwise would have been a lost cause. I will order the whole set next time I need one.

Right tool for the right job

By

I bought the 1/8th gripper for my Fender American Deluxe HSS... The generic ball-end Allen key I tried to use before wasn't getting positive contact with the truss rod nut, and I didn't want to strip the nut from the excess play. I also could not get enough leverage to turn the stiff truss rod without the strings interfering. My truss rod had not been adjusted because the setup was fine until I swapped to a different string gauge. With the StewMac tool, the Allen head was a nice tight fit, and I was able to turn it easily. No ball end, just a solid Allen hex face which is exactly what is needed. The 90 degree bend gives all the turning leverage you need, in addition to clearance away from the strings. If you pay thousands of dollars for a nice guitar, it deserves the best tool for the job.

High quality, decent price. Too bad it didn't fit my truss rod.

Gripper Truss Rod Wrenches work as advertised.

I ordered the 4mm and 5mm straight shaft wrenches just to be sure, and it turned out that the 4mm worked perfectly for a Dean Edge bass truss rod hex nut that had stripped. You might have to try a few different sizes depending on your situation and how stripped the nut is, but it definitely worked.

Game Changer!

By

This Gripper Truss Rod Wrench is a complete game changer. Bought a '99 Strat about a year ago, haven't been able to adjust my truss rod due to the nut being in very bad shape.

With the Gripper Truss Rod Wrench I was easily able to adjust my truss rod - even with a nut that's almost completely stripped.

I'm very happy with this purchase.

Got this for some work on an '83 Fender precision elite bass with a bi flex truss rod. Provides an excellent bite to adjust the truss rod as well as the built in neck angle adjustment mechanism on the back. Very good product. Plan to get the rest of the set for my shop!
