Japanese Flush-cut Saw

About This Item

Flexible fine-cut blade in an efficient handsaw. Cuts dowels flush for relocating tuners or bridge studs.

This versatile handsaw reflects the legendary craftsmanship, simplicity and efficiency of traditional Japanese woodworking tools. It's perfect for trimming dowel plugs when you're relocating tuners or bridge studs: the thin flexible blade lets you raise the handle for clearance, while keeping the cutting edge flat to trim the dowel close to the surface. Finely-crafted traditional pull-cut teeth make flush-cutting jobs fast, clean and efficient.

The Japanese Flush-cut Saw features a high quality .015"-thin alloy steel blade with 6-1/4" (158.75mm) cutting edge. The 7" (177.80mm) traditional bamboo handle gives this saw a comfortable weight that makes it enjoyable to use.

Amazing customer services

I bought this saw and it was defective. A small crack near the base. I wrote in an email about my concerns and I had another one delivered within a week. I always judge a good company by their customer service. Stewmac was top shelf.

This was a gift for my husband. He was very impressed with the quality, flexibility and strength. He spent the day cutting the ends off things. Very satisfied.

Got plugs?  You need one of these.

This saw works nicely to cut off plugs when you have to redrill holes. Cuts flush. With some care to keep it truly flat where it rides on the face, there is little or no scratching. Since I was doing it on a finished surface, I used a bit of tape to protect the surface, but the tape didn't get torn. It was then easy to use a razor blade with tape on corners (see Dan's drop fill video) as a scraper to take them all the way down to flush with the finished top.

saved my neck

I always wanted one of these saws and recently had a reason to buy one. I've had an old Ibanez A/E guitar with the headstock broken clean off of the neck. Someone had tried to do a repair and it was a mess. I cleaned it, glued and clamped it up. Then I drilled two 1/4" holes and used dowels for extra strength. With the flush cut saw, I was able to make clean cuts to remove excess dowel on both sides. This is a great saw!

Great saw

This is a great little saw. Very sharp and cuts quick on the pull stroke. I use it to cut the excess end grafts flush. Works great.
