The Gig Portable Guitar Workshop

About This Item

Turn your case into a super-solid workbench
Do you wish you could take your workbench on the road? With The Gig Portable Guitar Workshop, if you've got a case, a table, or even a chunk of plywood, you've got a solid and secure workbench.

If you're traveling or have limited space, working on your guitars is a nightmare. Uneven coffee tables, van seats, and beds are dangerous places to do even simple work. Spills, slips, scratches, dents, and other disasters are around every corner.

Safely repair your guitars anywhere!
With the adjustable neck rest and padded body clamps, you can secure your guitar on its back, face, or side. You've instantly got a stable workbench for cleaning, changing strings, and doing essential repairs. The Gig takes just minutes to set up on a case or table, and the straps lock everything in place. When you're done, everything fits in the included bag and stores easily in your car or gear bag.

Safe for all your instruments
Every surface that touches your instrument is covered with finish-safe pads. The padding is the perfect combination of soft and strong—safe for delicate finishes and holds the instrument steady while you're working.

If you do mobile repairs, go hunting for vintage gear, or need an extra bench in your shop, having The Gig is great insurance against disaster. If you're a touring musician, it will save your show and keep your guitars playing great.

The Gig Portable Guitar Workshop includes:
  • Tower neck rest—adjustable to fit anything from mandolins to 6 string basses and more
  • Two multi-sided body clamps—padded on all sides to protect your instrument
  • Two rugged straps—secures to nearly any case and more
  • Storage bag

Not on the road? Make it permanent!
We love using The Gig at home or in the shop too. If you have a small apartment, it's a relief to be able to make any space a workbench—coffee tables, dining tables, desks, whatever gets the job done!

Like it, but could you sell the pieces separately?

Admittedly, I'm not using this to take around on gigs which was what it was designed for, but at home and in my shop. Problem is that the straps are several inches too short to fit around my workbench or my small kitchen table. It would be handy if extra straps were an option. I've been able to find straps long enough to do the job but the connections are not compatible with the ones in the set. I can probably find other uses for the straps but for the moment they're just taking up space in the drawer.

The uprights by themselves are very handy for use in the shop, much better than my home-built supports. The weight of a guitar is enough to keep them from sliding around on my bench, they set up in a few seconds, and they keep the instrument from getting scratched. If I could buy the uprights separately (minus the straps and the bag) I'd use them for building a range of holding jigs, but it's a waste to buy bits I'm not going to use.

great for setting up intonation

Finally I can set the intonation on my bass in the correct position. What a stroke of genius, a flat surface is at a premium using my case as that surface is wonderful. Thank you!

The Gig Is a Must Have!!!

By

If you own a guitar and do anything more than just change strings and polish it The Gig is a must have item. I just got mine about 20 minutes ago thought the mail and set up is intuitive and quick. Sturdy enough to do just about anything a player is going to be doing on their axe. There are major things that would have to be taken into a accredited true Luthier to do it might not be well suited for but that is a totally moot point to make. But for us types that can DIY replacing pick ups do the wiring, change tuning machines, bridge, stop bars, tremolos or just set up a Floyd Rose from scratch or anything in between... Then you should click one into the shopping cart and buy The Gig. It's well made, sturdy, portable for the road and not a bank buster item. If super picky about the finish of you git stick(as I am and you are too) microfiber polishing towels from a chain hardware store or even a bath towel at the contact points(which have rubber pads on the holder areas) can be more piece of mind but from what I see really not actually needed. Never scrimp on the proper tool to do the job perfect.as we know and why we come to Stewmac... But for the price this is sold for and the versatility it's a very affordable DIY project perfect insurance must have. Seriously.
