StewMac Body Board

About This Item

Lifts the guitar up and away from benchtop clutter
Don't let a tool-filled bench scratch the instrument you're working on. Use the Body Board with our Guitar Repair Vise and double your workspace.

More room to work in a crowded shop
Lots of elbow room: with the guitar firmly supported, you can step around it to work on both front and back. Holds the guitar topside-up, sideways or upside-down—in all positions, the no-scratch padded riser supports the body.
Lots of tool room: with the guitar held this new way, your benchtop is always free for holding tools and parts.

The most compact workstation ever
Turn a tiny patch of floor space into the hub of your workshop: mount a Guitar Repair Vise on a ShopStand with a StewMac Body Board. You get a versatile, height adjustable workstation that rotates to any angle. The felt-padded riser moves horizontally and vertically to accommodate anything from a ukulele to a long-scale bass.

Reach all sides of the body better
"I'm able to reach all sides of the body better when it's on the board. For an awesome free standing rig, I add it to the ShopStand. That gives me 360-degrees of access to my work."
—Erick Coleman, guitar repairman and StewMac tech advisor

High quality plywood with durable hardware.

Dimensions: 30-3/4" x 6" x 1" (781mm x 152mm x 25mm)
Felt padded riser adjusts from 2-1/2" to 5-1/2" (63mm to 139mm)

#1843 Includes: Body Board, Guitar Repair Vise, ShopStand and adapter bolt to attach to the vise to the stand.

I was disappointed by the chipout and the sanding..... as a woodworker I’m particular about the little things.

This body board frees up my workbench top while I'm working on a guitar or bass and tucks out of the way when I'm done. I'm very pleased with it.

I thought it would be handy,,,

I was right! I still haven't used it to it's full potential, but I'm getting there. I like being able to swing the work out of the way so you can work on the bench top. Like, the other day, I was fitting a new nut into a bass and had the bass in the vise, then swung it out of the way so I could do some nut shaping...

Simple Yet Affective

I admit be skeptical when I first saw this introduced as a new item. However, having a modest workspace and a recent fret dress on a Gibson Les Paul got me thinking about it again. I ordered it, mounted it to my bench and instantly appreciated being able to walk around a guitar I'm working on especially for doing fretwork.

Great Addition to the Guitar Repair Vice

Set this up with my vice on a floor stand, and now I NEVER have an instrument on the work bench any more. 360 access to the instrument in the middle of the floor is amazing, I don't have to keep moving the instrument, I just work around it. One small draw back, felt on the body support is less than ideal, as things can slide off quickly . I modified with some neoprene matting, which is more skid resistant. Maybe this is something that could be included as an accessory.
