Schatten Knob and Bushing Puller

About This Item

This must-have "two-in-one" tool from Schatten Design applies a steady, controlled pull to safely remove them.

Stubborn hard-to-remove guitar knobs?
The Knob and Bushing Puller's clear acrylic housing has a rubberized base to help protect the guitar's finish. Includes hardware to easily extract Gibson, Schaller or Gotoh bridge and tailpiece stud bushings, without damaging the guitar.

For just removing standard knobs, consider a simple Knob Puller.

Tailpiece bushing removal tip:
In some cases, especially with Gibson guitars, the tailpiece bushings are installed before the guitar is finished. To avoid chipping the finish, we recommend scoring the bushing with a sharp knife. For stubborn bushings, careful heat from a soldering iron will help break them free.

Instructions and bolts for pulling various threads are included:

Not Perfect but Still Pretty Darn Good!

By

Had opportunity to use this device on several types of knobs. While it works “perfectly” for knobs that have enough clearance under them to slip the device, I ran into several knobs on guitars that were pushed on so far down there wasn’t any space under knob to slide the device under it. This doesn’t happen often but it seems import guitars tend to have knobs that get pushed down onto their potentiometers that there is zero clearance under them (bad news because the knob tends to make a ring into the finish.) I was still able to pull them but I couldn’t use this device. Just thought I’d call attention to this little issue. Gibson and Fender knobs tend to have enough clearance so usually no problem there. It’s those darn import guitars!

I used this puller to remove a couple of bridge bushings from a guitar body. You have to be careful
that you don't mar the finish as there is no rubber padding on the bottom of the steel part. Also, the tool I received had burrs on the steel parts so be careful not to cut yourself.
Other than those comments the tool works great.

Pricey, but pulled bushings slick as a whistle without a mark on my finish. If you gotta do it, you gotta buy it.

It will pull studs from guitars, and knobs off guitars, amps, & radios (check for set screws). This thing will rip apart pots if the knobs are held on with set screws. If the set screws are corroded in, that may be the only way to yank them out! I upped this from 4 stars to 5. Mine did need an extra washer, and some extra bolts to pull oddball studs. It's just at home on the guitar bench as it is on the amp bench! It gets under those soft small Ibanez knobs, no problem! It pulls out tail piece & bridge studs, no problem!

This tool excellent choice when your pulling, volume, and tone knobs off guitars.
Doesn't effect the finish on the guitars, or mess up the original knobs that was on there.

It's pricey, but well-made and it saved me the time of making one myself. It worked perfectly. I was able to remove some very old tailpiece bushings in a snap.

I bought this after buying the plastic knob pull, which wrecked a set of speed knobs on my Les Paul as it broke off/chipped the edges of the knobs. So I bit the bullet and spent the extra cash on this. It's great! It works perfectly, and no more busted knobs! I haven't used it yet to pull any in-body studs but I have it if needed. It's worth the the money.
