Fret Erasers

About This Item

An easy way to make your frets shine! Fret Erasers™ are flexible self-padded rubber blocks embedded with abrasive grits.

They're incredibly handy—use them in sequence as a final step on freshly-crowned frets, to erase fine file marks and scratches. The grits are color-coded for convenience. Frets gleam, and play buttery-smooth.

"I used to wrap abrasive papers around small rubber blocks, but that got a little clumsy. Fret Erasers are simpler and faster. No more sandy grit or sharp steel wool particles."
—Erick Coleman, repairman and StewMac tech advisor

Each Fret Eraser is 2-1/2" x 3/4" x 3/8" (63.50mm x 19.05mm x 9.52mm)

SAVE when you order the complete set of 7 grits: 220, 400, 800, 1200, 2000, 4000, and 8000.

Works on stainless frets, too!
All of our tools are suitable for use on stainless-steel fretwire, with the exception of our Fret Tang Nippers. Modern stainless-steel fretwire is known to be harder than the traditional nickel-silver blends, but our own shop experience indicates the wire does not cause premature wear of files or sandpapers.

These are sensational!

Fret work, what a pain in the backside. Especially tedious, boring time consuming polishing.

Well, no longer. I thought these were a bit of a gimmick, but worth a try. I’m not ever going back to papers again. These are that good.

Levelling and crowning are still a drag, but these rubbers are great. Just work them thought the grades from 220 to 8000 with out missing a step. Careful with the 220 and 400, they strip filing marks out really quickly, and consequently can flatten your freshly crowned frets juts a quickly.

15 minutes from levelled, crowned frets with file marks, to buttery smooth, black polished (a horologist therm for bit more than mirror finish). I can polish up 3 guitars an hour with the puppy’s.

I’m very pleased and recommend these rubbers (English name, Americans, feel free to snigger... I did), to any one.

I’ve polished 6 of my twelve guitars so far, and apart from metal on the surfaces I’ve used they seem more or less, unaffected especially the finer grits.

Good value for money.

Really great product!

I bought these while doing a fret job on my Carvin electric. Wow. They are so handy to use and polish the frets to mirror shine. They are stiff enough to take off some material on the coarser grits. I mainly used them for polishing after leveling and crowning. The high grits do an excellent job of polishing the frets without worrying about damaging the board and I found them to be much easier to use and faster than fine grit sandpaper. They are just the right size to hang onto while polishing and didn't load up like sandpaper does.

As someone who owns too many guitars and does his own maintenance, etc I find these to be useful after leveling / crowning to remove scratches. I dont know how they would hold up in a commercial shop environment though.
