Fret Erasers

About This Item

An easy way to make your frets shine! Fret Erasers™ are flexible self-padded rubber blocks embedded with abrasive grits.

They're incredibly handy—use them in sequence as a final step on freshly-crowned frets, to erase fine file marks and scratches. The grits are color-coded for convenience. Frets gleam, and play buttery-smooth.

"I used to wrap abrasive papers around small rubber blocks, but that got a little clumsy. Fret Erasers are simpler and faster. No more sandy grit or sharp steel wool particles."
—Erick Coleman, repairman and StewMac tech advisor

Each Fret Eraser is 2-1/2" x 3/4" x 3/8" (63.50mm x 19.05mm x 9.52mm)

SAVE when you order the complete set of 7 grits: 220, 400, 800, 1200, 2000, 4000, and 8000.

Works on stainless frets, too!
All of our tools are suitable for use on stainless-steel fretwire, with the exception of our Fret Tang Nippers. Modern stainless-steel fretwire is known to be harder than the traditional nickel-silver blends, but our own shop experience indicates the wire does not cause premature wear of files or sandpapers.

I bought a set (220-2000) and I'm underwhelmed. Your better off spending your money on Micromesh - which I still use.

Every guitarist should own these!

I work on everything I own. I purchased the 400 thru 2000 grit erasers to clean up an Ibanez AS93. It was a demo guitar and there was noticeable string marks around the 12th fret with some buzz on two strings. I used the S-M fret checker and the 13th fret was a hair higher than the 12th and 14th. Loosened the strings-taped the neck and went at it! I am very happy with the results. Takes some elbow grease but you have great control over what you are doing. If your frets are really bad I would get the 200 grit also. I polished the frets with 0000 steel wool. I hit all the frets with the 1200 & 2000 erasers.

Simple but effective

They work great, just make sure you get a range of them. One size does not fit all. You need to finish with a fine one to really shine it up.

I hava a GibsonV w/a nice size knick in fret9 from being knocked over@ a gig. I started w/the blue eraser& it did a great job& the V sounds perfect again. I will be ordering the entire set for my 5other guitars primarily just to polish some frets up. I'd recommend fret erasers to anyone w/fret maintenance.

Fretting a guitar or refretting can be very tedious and these make the job much easier and goes a little faster too. I just go through the grits after recrowning each fret and they are just beautiful.

Never heard of these items until I saw them at Stew Mac. They do a great job of keeping my frets shiny and smooth. Good buy.

Found another use for Fret Erasers!

Turns out that fret erasers are great for the pesky job of wet sanding a finished maple fretboard in between the frets before buffing.
