About This Item

Our bulk fretwire is supplied in convenient clear storage tubes, to keep your wire organized and your workbench uncluttered. You'll save 50% or more when you order fretwire by the pound.

Instrument makers and repair shops rely on us for the highest quality 18% nickel-silver fretwire. We supply our fretwire in 2-foot straight lengths. Order 6 feet for a complete guitar or bass fret job, and 4 feet for a mandolin, banjo or ukulele.

Our fretwire is sized to fit a 0.023" (0.58mm) fret slot width.

Fretwire is made in a variety of crown heights. Note that after the frets are installed and leveled, they can lose from .004" to .010" in height. High fretwire has a crown height of .045" or more. It may offer more note sustain due to its slightly greater mass, and more fret dressings are possible between refrettings. Low fretwire is often useful for partial refret jobs.

Very nice fret wire

I normally use Dunlop 6100 fret wire, but decided to use the Wide/Pyramid wire. Really like it and I’m sure intonation will be more accurate, as well. Almost done with this Jackson, and have 3 more after that.

I don't use wide wire (i'm an 0.080" kinda guy) but I use it to match fret wire for repairs.
Very nice wire.

You must have diamond files to work this stuff, but the results are great and never need touch-up or replacement.

Nice wire !!

I like this wire.

It comes straight with minimal tang deformation at the cut ends. It has no backwards curve as i've noticed from other suppliers and it comes slightly longer than the 2' it is supposed to be.

I used it to refret my les paul studio which had strange wire on it. 0.080" wide by 0.055" high even after i had previously levelled and crowned it.

It bends easy, seems quite consistant in shape and has nice square tang/bead joints.

After fretting i attempted my first spherical ends to very satisfactory results. It files nicely and smoothly, better than others i have tried. If it weren't for the fact that many want 0.118" x 0.057" or 0.058" wire (jackson or Ibanez sized) i would use only this wire.

Quite satisfied.

Thz again stewmac.

P.S. maybe you may want to offer the bigger 0.118" w by 0.057" h wire in the future. I prefer your 0.023" tang to other's 0.021" for refrets. The 0.021" is good for new fretboards but is usually too thin for refrets without swamping with glue.

This wire was pretty close to the advertised dimensions and made for a good fret job. Its maybe a little softer than the Jescar wire I stock but the player's going to love how it turned out!! ;-)

Thanks, guys.

I had a Peavey T-60 customer who needed a re-fret job and I was caught without the proper fretwire gauge on hand. Stew-Mac had a good selection and I received my order in short time. It possibly saved me a customer and the wire was close enough to the wire I designed for the T-60 in 1975. Thank you, Stew-Mac.
