StewMac Brace Repair Jack

About This Item

A better way to glue loose braces
Insert through the soundhole and turn with your fingertips for clamping braces, bridge pads and patching cleats.

Luthiers asked for a stronger, faster, easier brace jack, and our R&D team delivered!

  • Heavy brass body stays put as you adjust the height
  • Sturdy machined brass threads—no wobbling
  • Glue-resistant end caps are double-notched

The double-notched end caps fit the two most common brace profiles: the gentle slope of Martin braces and the more triangular shape found on Gibsons. The caps are made of glue-resistant high density polyethylene.

Adjusts from 2-7/8" (73mm) to 4-3/8" (111mm).
7/8"-diameter (22.23mm) caps are glue-resistant high-density polyethylene.

Perfect tool for the job

I used this on a repair with loose braces and it worked great. I suggest extending it as much as you can outside before setting it in place inside the box

Big Improvement

These are much better than Stu-Macs previous version. What we need now, are SMALLER ones!
About 1/2 this size would be great !

Good idea but.....

i bought this to repair loose braces on a '52 Gibson LG1. Unfortunately the top and bottom braces don't line up so you need to place a piece of wood inside to lift to fit. Pretty hard to tighten and hold in place at the same time. I just love glueing braces.

Had some bracing to repair and this jack was the right tool for the job. Great tool to have for not a lot of money.

Worked perfectly. Exactly what was advertised. I was able to glue a brace back in place without any issue. If you don't have some of these, get'em. I will be looking to StewMac to expand my specialty tools for my guitars. Thanks guys.

Saved a recording session

This is a great little clamp, well built and easy to use. Now that these clamps have brace notches on both ends they are far more flexible in their applications. And...the other day, one of these saved a recording session: We were tracking down a subtle "buzz" in the audio while tracking an acoustic guitar (and it was subtle). We finally tracked it down to a loose brace in the top, near the sound-hole, slipped in the jack with a small amount of pressure, and - no buzz! Recording session saved!

This tool will be used for many jobs not just for bracing. Well made. Price was right.

Nice tool

This tool works very well- Much better than a hardware spreader.
The middle brass section easily turns left or right (ie - up or down) with the side of the finger when your hand is awkwardly inside an instrument.
The white caul heads are notched so you can get a good stable hold on a brace or even two at once (as shown in pic).

slick tool!

After trying to improvise my own brace clamps with home-made turnbuckles that were ALWAYS difficult to use, I decided to break down and buy one of these to try it out. The ease of use was amazing, and I'll be buying a couple of more for sure. They go in place over braces so easily, and are easily adjusted to just the right clamping force. Highly recommend this - I wish they'd been available years ago when I improvised my own, as I would've saved time and attitude adjustments in the years since!

The Right Tool

As a amateur at guitar repair this is one handy tool
I had about 1 1/2" spot that had come unglued due to the belly it was working on.
Once I got the guitar back to normal shape this tool was perfect for the internal spacing & support for external clamping.
Thumbs up to StewMac
