Solomon SL-30 Soldering Station

About This Item

Pro quality! Adjustable digitally controlled heat lets you get clean, professional solder connections for a variety of jobs.

No cold solder joints, no uncooperative solder flow, no burned connections.

Adjustable temperature control: The SL-30 soldering station's heat sensor is located near the soldering tip for a fast, accurate and consistent LCD Celsius readout, from 160-480 degrees (320-900 degrees F). For extended service life, an electronically switched transformer isolates the tip from transient AC voltage spikes.

    The SL-30 Soldering Station includes:
  • Comfort-grip soldering iron with 3-1/2 foot heat-resistant cord and 1/32" fine-point tip for precision soldering
  • Easy-reach adjustable soldering iron holder, with vented steel safety cover for heat dissipation
  • Tip-wiping sponge

We recommend: Order a chisel tip for soldering connections to the back of a control pot or grounding a wire to a tremolo claw. It's also handy for steaming out wood dents with a damp cloth.

#0501 is a 110-volt AC electrical appliance, 60Hz. It has a U.S. standard Type A plug with two flat parallel prongs, ungrounded.

#0601 is a 220-volt AC electrical appliance, 50Hz. It has an international plug Type C (Europlug) with two round prongs, ungrounded.

Solomon SL-30 Soldering Station

I should have bought this years ago!!!! I kept buying those $40 - $50 soldering irons from the big box stores but they never sold tip replacements so every year I had to buy a whole new iron to do my guitar repairs.

The heat is consistent, soldering is actually simple now! The holder is solid as well, I always use to struggle with the iron holder on my cheap irons. I used to dread swapping pickups on my guitars but now it so easy.

This station is dedicated for our new neck removal system, but we think it works great!

A handy tool!

I like being able to vary the temperature however, but because the temp read out is only in the celsius scale, I have to keep converting it to farenheight. It's a good set up regardless

Changed the game

I upgraded from a single-wattage soldering iron to this soldering station. Temperature control allows for better solder joints when using lead-free solder (temp has to be higher for lead-free). Paste flux helps alot too! Been using the SL-30 for about a year now. Even the tips are great quality. Once you go temp controlled, you will not go back.

Simple, effective design.

Hadn't soldered anything in 30 years, and that was copper pipe with acid flux. no technicians i know where i live that i would trust with a Yaron Les Paul. the job was simple, just had to ground the treble volume pot lug (cold solder had come free). sooo. i decided to buy a unit. which unit? i wanted to make sure it was temperature-controlled. overlooked this solomon at first and looked and looked at all the "big" names. but seemed like the consensus was that, unless you're going for one of the $300+ "professional" units from weller or, say, hakko, quality had slipped in recent years. watched a video on Sorny Roong and i was convinced this, since it was endorsed by stewmac, was the way to go - highest quality for the price. practiced with some old pots and when i was ready, took care of my LP in 10 seconds. this is one easy to use machine, great user interface.

I've only had this unit for a short time and used it on 1 project. I did however test it on a variety of kinds of things that I would typically solder. It works really good. Goes up to the set temp very quickly. I'd give it 5 stars, but that 5th star would be for longevity and I can't answer that yet. Kind of pricey unless you do a lot of electronics work, but well worth it IMO if you solder often.

Great addition

First off, i shopped this station around and StewMac had the lowest price. Secondly, i really didn't think i needed this but what a great solder station! Working on circuit boards, too much heat is an issue. It was nice to dial in a bit hotter temp for desoldering and then backing it down for the new connection. Accepts tinning great. I am very pleased.

It would be full 5-star phenomenal if it displayed degrees Fahrenheit too!
