Fret Erasers

About This Item

An easy way to make your frets shine! Fret Erasers™ are flexible self-padded rubber blocks embedded with abrasive grits.

They're incredibly handy—use them in sequence as a final step on freshly-crowned frets, to erase fine file marks and scratches. The grits are color-coded for convenience. Frets gleam, and play buttery-smooth.

"I used to wrap abrasive papers around small rubber blocks, but that got a little clumsy. Fret Erasers are simpler and faster. No more sandy grit or sharp steel wool particles."
—Erick Coleman, repairman and StewMac tech advisor

Each Fret Eraser is 2-1/2" x 3/4" x 3/8" (63.50mm x 19.05mm x 9.52mm)

SAVE when you order the complete set of 7 grits: 220, 400, 800, 1200, 2000, 4000, and 8000.

Works on stainless frets, too!
All of our tools are suitable for use on stainless-steel fretwire, with the exception of our Fret Tang Nippers. Modern stainless-steel fretwire is known to be harder than the traditional nickel-silver blends, but our own shop experience indicates the wire does not cause premature wear of files or sandpapers.

They work great, I like to use the coarser grades.

Better results and easier to use than sandpaper and steel wool.

Did the trick.

I used the 1200 & 2000 then 0000 steel wool to polish some frets I had resurfaced. It was my first fret job and I've since done another. I don't know how this method compares to others, but I am completely happy with the results of my work using these.

I'll add a couple of lower grit erasers to my next order from stewmac.

I must not be using them right

I am not sure where all the 5 star reviews are coming from but my experience is anything but. It took a lot more work to get the same result as my usual method, which is 600 grit paper then steel wool. Never a complaint.

Nice!

I admit I was skeptical and hesitated to pull the trigger on "erasers", but I finally did it and I'm glad I did.

I just received them today and I've already tried them simply cleaning frets to finishing up a leveling and recrowning job. It doesn't take a lot of effort through the 7 grits to get great results.

I re-furbish acoustic guitars and this made quick work of cleaning up dirty and tarnished frets on older guitars...
Better than I thought it would!

I bought a set (220-2000) and I'm underwhelmed. Your better off spending your money on Micromesh - which I still use.

Every guitarist should own these!

I work on everything I own. I purchased the 400 thru 2000 grit erasers to clean up an Ibanez AS93. It was a demo guitar and there was noticeable string marks around the 12th fret with some buzz on two strings. I used the S-M fret checker and the 13th fret was a hair higher than the 12th and 14th. Loosened the strings-taped the neck and went at it! I am very happy with the results. Takes some elbow grease but you have great control over what you are doing. If your frets are really bad I would get the 200 grit also. I polished the frets with 0000 steel wool. I hit all the frets with the 1200 & 2000 erasers.

Good product. These work just as described, and are another useful tool for polishing frets.
