Bridge Spatula

About This Item

"I saw this in use at Martin's repair shop 20 years ago, and have wanted one ever since!"—Dan Erlewine, guitar repairman

The right tool for bridge removal!
Super-thin and super-stiff, mounted at a shallow angle in a big block handle. The Bridge Spatula gives you more control when separating a loose bridge or fretboard extension from a guitar top. Works wonders for pickguard removal, too.

  • 0.012"-thin (0.3mm) stainless steel is sandwiched between wood blocks at a shallow angle.
  • Exposed steel is 2-1/2" x 5" (63.5mm x 127mm)
  • Hardwood block handle is 2" x 2-1/2" and 1" thick (50.8mm x 63.5mm x 25.4mm)
  • Thick felt on the underside of the tool handle protects the guitar top and helps it smoothly slide under your work.

Good tool for a Neck Reset or bridge work.

I have other spatulas but this one combines strength with a very thin section. These are important qualities when used for the intended purpose, as in loosening fingerboard extensions and bridges.

Worked great! I especially liked how the felt bottom protected the guitar top while working off the bridge.

Expensive but worth double the cost.

I have been using a pallet knife to remove bridges for as long as I can remember. Never again. I bought this with muted expectations. First test was removing a bridge from a Taylor 12 string. This bridge was being removed due to a crack; it was not lifting at all and was very well glued. This spatula made short work of it and I did not need to use any heat. No tear out, no diving into the grain, and surprisingly easy to get started. This is the real deal.

Usefulness of the Bridge Spatula

I used this tool to remove a deformed fret board from my classical guitar. With the addition of heat I easily and without damage removed the board from the underlying neck. The tool worked very well. Thanks

Easiest Bridge Removal Ever!

By

Bridge removal has always been a nail biter for me and difficult to do without some evidence left in the form of damage to the finish. The thin, stiff blade of this tool easily gets under the bridge and has a wide enough footprint to prevent pressure marks and scuffs on soft tops. The padded wood handle is tough enough for some gentle tapping with a mallet.
Well worth the money in time saved and clean, undamaged soundboards.

Used the spatula for the first time on a Taylor. Easy to use, felt protects the finish, pliable but firm enough to do the job.
