Vintage-style Tuner Bushings

About This Item

Press-fit bushings for 1/4"-diameter string posts.
High quality machined brass.

Straight-sided bushings: these are easier to install, and stay put better than tapered bushings. Straight-sided hex bushings are now standard on Waverly tuners.

Tapered bushings: this traditional bushing design has slightly tapered sides.

Some guitars may require peghole modification. See our specs. For a perfect fit, we recommend the #2062 Peghead Bushing Reamer (.340" diameter) to cut a clean, accurate counterbore.

Tip: To retrofit tuners with 1/4"-diameter string posts into guitars equipped with larger enclosed Grover, Gotoh and Schaller machines, see our 3/8" Conversion Tuner Bushings. No hole plugging and redrilling needed.

Homemade bushing puller to protect the peghead

Dan Erlewine needs to pull the tuner grommets/bushings from the peghead of this old Gibson. The lacquer is already damaged, and pulling the bushings can yank finish off too. Dan rigs a jig that holds the finish down while the bushing comes up.

Perfect fit for a 1980's Fender repair

By

I picked these up specifically for a repair/replacement of parts for a custom built Tele copy I made in the 1980s and that needed replacement of the tuners. The original tuners and bushings had been removed and we wanted to put back "vintage" design tuners. These vintage appearance and dimensioned tuners fit into the old holes used originally for the Kluson tuners I had installed in the 1980s. The look and fit are just right. If anything, these bushings are more robust than the originals--certainly better quality than the bushings that came with the new set of tuners (and that were too small).

Fit my Martin

Worked fine on my 2000 Grand Ole Opry Martin D. Originally it came with washers but even though I could not locate any washers, anywhere, the nut covers the hole just fine.

Excellent...however....I wish that there were an option to order just one!

I LOVE STEWMAC AND ALWAYS WILL. Instrument came into the shop missing a bushing. None of my extras fit. While I'm eternally grateful to StewMac for always being there for us - I wish I could've just ordered the one bushing....now I have a 5-pack that won't be very useful, and had to charge my customer $15 for a single bushing.
