3/8" Conversion Tuner Bushing

About This Item

Round and hex shape bushings for adapting 1/4" string posts to fit larger pegholes. Set of 6.

Conversion bushing example
Adapts 1/4" string post to fit larger pegholes.
Our special tapered knurled press-fit brass bushings lets you install Waverly or other tuning machines with 1/4"-diameter string posts into 3/8" or 10mm pegholes (Gotoh/Grover/Schaller) with no redrilling.

Note: these conversions bushings will not work on instruments with 10.5mm pegholes. Measure the tuner hole diameter prior to ordering.

For a perfect fit, we recommend the #2065 Peghead Bushing Reamer (.393" diameter) to cut a clean, accurate counterbore.

Homemade bushing puller to protect the peghead

Dan Erlewine needs to pull the tuner grommets/bushings from the peghead of this old Gibson. The lacquer is already damaged, and pulling the bushings can yank finish off too. Dan rigs a jig that holds the finish down while the bushing comes up.

Good looking solution!

These are a great way to adapt 1/4" shaft tuners to pre drilled 10mm peg heads like the Mighty Mites sold at StewMac. I had ordered some from another supplier and they were a large diameter that just looked wrong with the vintage tuners i was installing. These are a smaller diameter flange and look much better!

Swapped my chunky modern fender tuners for some vintage sleek little babies. these conversion bushings worked very smoothly.

They work well

They work well and fit firmly around the tuners I bought them for. As a general note though, they are loose in the es-335 kit I purchased. They had to be glued in, even after 60 layers of thin clear coat was applied to the guitar (it was cold and humid outside. Thin coats are all I could do) which is more of a comment about the guitar than this part.

Used these on an old Airline that had the tuners replaced with a set of Shallers. They fit absolutely perfect and look fantastic! Highly recommend!

Pretty much says it all. If your headstock is bored for large tuners you need these.

A little bit large for string post

By

I needed this larger bushing for use on Grover 18:1 statite tuners. The bushing fit the headstock hole great, but the hole for the string post was a hair large which under tension pulls on the string post a bit.
