Grover 18:1 Sta-Tite (97-18 Series) 3+3 Tuners

About This Item

Grover Sta-Tite™ tuners are a modern version of a vintage design. For 3-left/3-right solid pegheads.

Each tuner features 18:1 gear ratio for fine tuning, a cast baseplate, vintage style scalloped knobs, and nylon worm bearings and tension screw for smooth operation.

Sets of 6 (3-left/3-right). Each set includes mounting screws and knurled press-fit peghead bushings. 11/32" (8.73mm) diameter pegholes required.

Also available for slotted pegheads.

Installation Tips

Bushings: We recommend the #2062 Bushing Reamer (.340" diameter) to cut a clean, accurate counterbore for a professional job. Fit the press-fit tuner bushings correctly so your tuners will work smoothly.

Mounting screws: Pilot holes required. Installing delicate screws into hard wood requires great care and accuracy. We highly recommend the #1711 Depth-stop Drill Bit (No.50 bit) for the pilot hole before installing these screws. Lubricate the screw threads with cutting lubricant (also wax or a bar of soap) to reduce friction and help them thread properly.

I've been using Waverly and they are great tuners but for less than half you can use the Grover with the same look and flawless smooth type operation. They are my go to vintage tuners now.
They sta-tite.

Grover Tuners

Recently purchased a Martin DRS2 and changed the closed tuners with the Grover's. I just think they look more "Martin". Excellent tuners and great, prompt service from Stewart-McDonald.

Traditional, good-looking, accurate tuners!

These tuners look as good as 2X expensive Waverlys and IMHO, work as well. The 18:1 ratio is precise, and they stay in tune very well. I'm very pleased. I got the gold set and the dress up my Epi Masterbilt like formal trim. Beautiful and professionally usable!

i have grovers on all my guitars, they are by far the best for the buck. these are very nice albeit very tight, but so were the open back i removed. no issues with staying in tune, i am guessing they will losen up as time goes by..
i bought the 3/8" Conversion Tuner Bushings and needed them. beautiful tuners.

Grover Sta-Tite's for President

I installed Grover Sta-Tite's from Stew Mac recently on my Martin DC-Aura-GT lefty. The tuners it came with (ratio tuners) are a good idea but not very well made. But these Grovers, like all Grovers are excellent, stay in tune, rotate like soft butter on bread, and when I need tuners again, it'll be Sta-Tite's purchased from Stew Mac. Ordered on a Monday, received by Tuesday. Athens is the gateway to Appalachia, but Stew Mac put it on the map.

The right parts

These were the right parts for my vintage Gretsch and a perfect match to the old ones. Even the drill holes were exactly the same and easy to install. I just had to do a little sanding inside the peg holes as all.

Nice tuners

Bought these in gold for my HD28 that I re-fretted with gold EVO wire. They look great and are very smooth and hold well. I've never used Waverlys, so I can't compare, but for this price, I'm willing to gamble a bit and hope they hold up long term. So far, I'm very pleased with them. If you put these on a Martin, you should buy the counterbore StewMac recommends in the proper size so that you get a good press fit for the bushings. Martin is now using these tuners for their standard guitars that have open backs. I'm guessing that if they are using them, they must have some faith in them!
