Gotoh Vintage Keystone-style 3+3 Tuning Machines

About This Item

Vintage-style keystone knobs and stamped housings make these tuners the ideal vintage tuner replacement or upgrade. For 3-left/3-right pegheads.

These fine reproductions feature original style stamped gear housings, but have modern improved 15:1 gearing for smoother, more precise action. The knobs are molded greenish plastic, just like the originals!

New tuners with vintage appeal: distressed look of the Relic Nickel plating is perfect for repairing old guitars, when shiny new hardware just won't do.

Screws and round press-fit peghead bushings included. 11/32"-diameter pegholes required.

Installation Tips

Bushings: We recommend the #2062 Bushing Reamer (.340" diameter) to cut a clean, accurate counterbore for a professional job. Fit the press-fit tuner bushings correctly so your tuners will work smoothly.

Mounting screws: Pilot holes required. Installing delicate screws into hard wood requires great care and accuracy. We highly recommend the #1713 Depth-stop Drill Bit (No.44 bit) for the pilot hole before installing these screws. Lubricate the screw threads with cutting lubricant (also wax or a bar of soap) to reduce friction and help them thread properly.

Awesome Tuners!

By

Verified Buyer

These dropped right in my SJ-200, 10 minutes to do the whole job. They did not need the included metal sleeves, as the Gibson already had these. They are tight at first, but a drop of WD-40 thru the small hole helped. Love these tuners, THEY STAY IN TUNE. They are beautiful too, made my 16 year old guitar look like brand new.

i was going to order the golden age vintage tuners (and i will as a great value tuner) but for my '73 SG II restoration, i required a step up push bushing tuner. these are beautiful, well made and tite. i'll be using these again on restores and grover 135N's for a threaded bushing.
stewmac got them here in 2 days as usual and answered a few questions promptly.

Gotoh replacments tuners are awesome

Want to make that under $500 Epiphone, ESP, Silvertone, Squier, Recording King, etc...play better. Here is your tool. Most imports are Very good guitars that simply need upgraded hardware. These will greatly increase your playing enjoyment and a very reasonable cost.

Gorgeous Relic Tuners

By

They look like they came off of a 60 year old Gibson. The knobs are a bit darker and greener in person, so they actually look better than the picture here shows. And they're a bit less expensive than the Planet Waves I normally put on my builds. I'm considering getting a couple more sets for some other guitars I own.

1950 Gibson L7-C

By

I installed these in a client's 1950 Gibson L7-C. They feel great, and look great too! The funny thing was that they looked even older than the original tuners on the guitar! My client was very happy, his guitar could be tuned again.

'59 Epiphone Windsor. The old tuner buttons crumbled, and one tuner was bent. Installed these using the original screws, which fit perfectly in their old holes, and the original bushings, with no problems.

Best quality "Kluson" replacement you can get.

By

Verified Buyer

For years now, Gotoh has been my "go to" for Kluson style replacement tuners. Quality, operation and appearance is a BIG notch above other similar tuners of this type. The "aged" tuners are a welcome addition to the line. Interestingly, the aged tuners have buttons molded from new tooling, and are (finally) mounted the "correct" distance out on the shaft (the regular tuners have the buttons mounted a bit to far outboard).

I only will offer two cautions. First, the included screws are larger than Gibson or other manufacturers typically use for this type of tuner. If you're using these for a replacement, I recommend using the original screws. Second, the posts are on the short side (probably vintage correct) and best suited for a headstock about 1/2" thick. Many import guitars (and some Gibsons) have headstocks that are 9/16" or a bit thicker. On these guitars, the cross hole in the tuner post will sit VERY close to the face of the bushing, maybe too close. For those instruments, the "Golden Age" tuners might work better for you.
