About bridge & tailpiece measurements

Bridge and Tailpiece reference image

String spread is the distance between the centers of the outer strings on a bridge or tailpiece.

Saddle radius determines the arc formed by all the individual saddle heights, and is similar to the measurement of a fretboard.

Stud/post spacing is the distance between the centers of the mounting posts of a bridge or 'stop' tailpiece.

Had the bridge installed at guitar center and the saddles rattle just like my previous one. Would not recommend.

Easy Installation

Put this bridge on an Eastman 372. Installed this unit exactly in the location of the original ebony bridge. Except for string height adjustment to match the ebony bridge tuning was spot on, I was amazed. It changed the character of the guitars tone to a brighter tone which I did not like, it made the tone too harsh for my taste. Replaced the original bridge and saved this Tune-o-Matic for future use on another project. For Jazz tone this is not the ticket for a purist but it is a great item for those searching for more versatility on a hollow body Jazz guitar.

Purchased this for an Eastman 371 Hollow Body. Required a little adjustment to make it fit the guitar top, which should be expected. Made the guitar sound great.

Review of Tune-0-matic Bridge

By

This bridge was used to replace an ebony bridge on an Epiphone Joe Pass Emperor. Although the bridge on the Epiphone was somewhat compensated, the intonation of the guitar was off and it was out of tune in certain positions. The tune-o-matic allowed the intonation to be set properly. Now the guitar plays in tune and the sustain of the sound is much better. On an ascetic note, the tune-o-matic looks much better. Replacing the Wooden bridge with the Tune-o-matic bridge worked so well, I plan on doing the same thing to a couple of older arch-tops I own. This is a great well-made bridge and I would definitely recommend it to anyone wanted to use it to improve the intonation and sound of an archtop guitar.

For Gretsch G100CE

It has a saddle compensated for wound G. I'd been suspicious of the intonation. With this StewMac tune-o-matic can fix that, trading a little acousticness for a little more sustain, but here's the interesting thing.
I expected to have to sand the new bridge, got the required items, and removed the strings. Then I discovered that the new saddle fits PERFECTLY over the screws that were original equipment on the stock bridge. No fitting needed, the cool OEM bridge remains, and I coulda done it without even removing the strings. Since life got in the way, as Alaskans have visitors in the summer, I've not had the chance to finish it, but it should be straight ahead. So, y'all with the Gretsch G100, go for it.
