Gotoh In-Tune Compensated Saddles For Tele

About This Item

They look original, but they play in tune!
The problem with vintage Tele® saddles is that they weren't designed for accurate intonation. These Gotoh replacements provide precise tuning while keeping the vintage look.

Built-in compensation
Unique grooves molded into these saddles move each string's point of contact for more exact intonation than traditional barrel saddles.

Choose brass for traditional Tele twang or titanium for rich harmonic overtones and long sustain.

Gotoh's In-Tune saddles fit any vintage-style Tele bridge. Each saddle is reversible and can be used in any position.

Diameter: 0.310" (7.87mm)
String Spread: 2-1/8" (53.98mm)

Set of 3 includes steel intonation screws and springs.

Great idea

I bought a couple sets to install on 2 of my Teles. On my 1985 CAR Tele Custom reissue I had to remove some of the brass underneath the high and low "E" saddles to get the action low enough. The other Tele is a partscaster and they didn't need any sort of adjustment. The saddles do not come with any sort of instructions on how/where to install them but a quick search online remedied any questions I had. A vast improvement over the angled compensated saddles I've used in the past. And the intonation was dead on much to my amazement.

Depends on you ear!!

No problems going in my bridges. Compensation cuts work plus you can flip the to suit middle or outside positions. I used them in three different Teles in the bass side to brighten up the E an A strings. I use flatwounds by the way. The titanium brings up the tone without going overboard,, more of a tightening of the tone rather than a brighter sound. I still have a nice flat wound thump but, a tad cleaner tone,, More $$ than brass or steel,, RC

I need to file them

I'll need to file them, because there's not enough room for the three saddles and the string spacing went off

Made a huge difference

My tele had the older style saddles without slots for the strings. They slid around and went out of tune all the time, and the string spacing was changing all the time. These saddles completely fixed the problem, totally worth the price.

Good intonation

I put a titanium set on a 63 tele they work great, they are not as easy to set up as a six saddle bridge but it is possible to get the intonation set. The 63 tele had nickle plated brass saddles and the titanium looks real close to the original.

Not suitable for use with Bigsby Vibrato

I have a 2017 American Elite Tele with a compound radius neck that I wanted to add a Bigsby to without drilling or altering the guitar itself. I purchased a Vibramate V5-TEAS adapter for mounting a Bigsby B5 without drilling any new holes. The one downside to this is having to give up my 6 saddle bridge for a 3 saddle, knowing the ones that were included in the kit would not give me adequate intonation adjustment. I ordered these saddles as a way to get the in tune playing I wanted. They do that very well, but ... the 1st, 2nd, and 6th strings kept jumping out of the slots no matter how I adjusted it. (the V5-TEAS also has a problem with the saddle lugs being too far back, and leaving no tension on the springs as the saddles are too far forward.) The kind folks at StewMac suggested a set of gauged files to deepen the saddle slots. I ordered them, and this has stopped the jumping out problem, but the 1st string now loses sustain when bending. I have no doubt these saddles would be wonderful with a stock bridge, but the Bigsby slightly changes the string spread approaching the saddles causing a slight sideways tension. I've now obtained a set of Gotoh SW-3 saddles which have compensated straight edges that can be properly filed and set-up to deal with this issue. The short screw/spring length is an issue that I've reported to Vibramate, and they've responded thanking me for the feedback and saying they would look into the issue. (I solved it with a few small washers at the back end of the screws to force the springs 3/16" forward.)

A must do upgrade for old style telecaster saddles!

The sustain & the positioning of the strings is a great but subtle change to your overall sound & the playability of the guitar. The little grooves on the titanium saddles makes all the difference to me. Added bonus: The shipping was very prompt.
