Pisgah Hawktail Banjo Tailpiece

About This Item

Old-time tone upgrade
Your banjo comes to life with The Pisgah Hawktail because of increased downward string pressure on the bridge. You get classic old-time tone and responsiveness, while overtones and string buzz are reduced.

The design is pure turn-of-the-century: the Hawktail is a beautiful tailpiece.

    Three finishes:
  • Nickel plate
  • Relic brass
  • Unplated brass

For 5-string banjos.

A tailpiece bracket or endbolt is needed for installation.

Great tailpiece but screw is too short

By

Overall, I'm really pleased with this tailpiece. It looks good and adds a little punch to the banjo compared to a simple no-knot. However, as with the StewMac no-knot tailpieces, the bolt is too short to reach through a traditional tailpiece end bolt (Enoch Tradesman, to be specific), and they don't have a longer one available (I called). I guess it's designed for use with a simple L-bracket. This is not a show-stopper, of course. A trip to the hardware store for a SS 8-32 screw and locknut did the trick. I would definitely buy this again, but it's a little aggravating to have to then go out and source a bolt elsewhere.

Love the look and sound...

I have been looking for something better than a No Knot for sound and appearance for the vintage stuff that I see (most all had their original parts pilfered)...this is it!
