Speed Knob

About This Item

Speed knobs' fumble-free shape is easy to wrap a pinkie around. Found on many Gibsons, they're also called "hatbox" knobs.

Choose knobs to press-fit onto fine (CTS) or coarse (Alpha) knurled control pot shafts. Sold individually.

Check your control pot shafts before you order!

Black: Clear plastic with black painted bottom and white numerals
Gold: Clear plastic with gold painted bottom and white numerals
Amber: Amber plastic with gold painted bottom and white numerals

Check your control pot shafts before you order!
Almost all press-on knobs that fit coarse-knurled 18-spline pot shafts (such as Alpha) won't fit fine-knurled 24-spline shafts (such as CTS), and vice versa.

Almost perfect knob.

I'm using these knobs on a 2014 Gibson Melody Maker. Out of 4 knobs one was not concentric but works OK. I ended up turning a groove in the knob to retain an O-ring for extra grip. Works really well.

I got the amber ones to go on a natural finish, Epiphone 339 pro. Great quality and they look and work just right.

Not only were these speed knobs very speedy, they were delivered in two days which is pretty fast. Stew Mac puts a LOT of effort into their online presence, very impressive, love this site.

Perfect Fit

Bought these as replacement knobs on my Ibanez AK-47 Archtop. One was broken and one was lost. Perfect fit, and I think the amber looks better than the gold knobs originally on the guitar.

Check shafts first

These knobs are not recessed at the shaft and sit up off the guitar a good bit. I guess my fault for not checking but had no idea there was a difference. Although now they are easier to reach just looks a little off. They can be modified but be careful you don’t crack the knob when clamping/drilling/sanding.

This was my first perches from stewmac and was satisfied with the quality for product and speed of delivery. I anticipate this was the first of many interactions. S.H.J.

Good Choice for a Epiphone G1275 Electronics Refurb

By

Verified Buyer

I did a few electronics classes as part of a luthier series. My project was to gut the ALL the electronics from a Epiphone G 1275. For those not familiar it is Epiphone version of Jimmy Pages Gibson EDS-1275 Double Neck. Once I completed all the wiring changes using Stew Mac supplied wire, pots, caps, switches, and jacks I discovered the original Epiphone knobs were too small to fit on the CTS Pro pots. This Speed Knob fit the bill.

okay, but not the quality of originals.

These are okay, but they have a very poor finish on the top surface. and are very hard to push on the cts pots they are supposed to be made for. Be very careful or you will push the back out of the pot.
