Tenor restoration project

By

As usual, I got what I asked for in a timely manner. The bridge was slotted and ready to go. Tone quality was there.

I have used these on some fine old banjos, and no complaints!

I don't know, or care where these come from. They work, and they work well. This is the next candidate for the Stewart MacDonald tenor banjo bridge. I put a plectrum neck on it, but being a 1935 Gibson Mastertone, sold under the Montgomery Ward's Recording King brand, it will eventually be restored to a fine tenor banjo, again. The mute is a genuine period correct Bacon & Day mute. The bridge the the Stewmac bridge. The neck needs some serious restoration, though. Stewmac will come through for me on this one too. They have been doing so for as long as I have been alive.

I'm restoring a 1950 Dixie banjolele and needed a bridge. Couldn't find any anywhere but Stew-Mac had a nice little bridge that I sanded the top down to the proper height and it works fine. And the price was right!

Excellent Buying Experience

I found Stewaret-MacDonald on the Internet, search the catalog for the banjo part I needed and ordered. The price was very good, delivery fast and the part fit perfectly. This is probably a one-time purchase, as I will be giving the banjo to my grandson, but I am passing on the S-M catalog to the Praise Group at my church.

Replace your Bridges

Got a intermediate level PRC "crafted" tenor banjo to replace my older no name that was ruined in a car accident and immediately replaced the bridge as the OEM was junk.

I noted that the quality of string cuts were much better on the Stew Mac.

OK Bridge, but more variety would be appreciated

I had a tough time finding tenor banjo bridges, and StewMac came through with this model. Good bridge for the price, and worked in the application that I needed it for. I do wish there were a few more choices for 4-string bridges, though: adding a 1/2" model, and also compensated 1/2" and 5/8" choices would be very welcome. This 5/8" worked for me because I was resetting the action anyway, but if I had wanted to keep things the same it would have required some work to get it to replace the 1/2" that I took off.

Just the job

I buy these a dozen at a time. Good quality wood for a fair price, they're just the job for vintage tenor restoration.
