Schaller S-Locks

About This Item

Robust strap lock that is silent—perfect for a studio environment.

The plungers on the locks are all one piece, and the locks have a longer threaded section to accommodate thicker straps. The strap buttons are one piece (button and screw) with a slightly enlarged thread to dig into oversized strap button screw holes, and use a 3mm allen wrench for installation. The collars have been re-designed to include a set screw, which helps secure the strap onto the lock.

Set of 2: each set includes 2 locks, 2 strap buttons, and 2 collars.

Extra strap buttons also available.

Best straplock available!

I love the new S-Locks! The design upgrades are legit. The locking wheel is a no-brainer, much better than the thread hex from the previous version, that is hard to tighten (and gets easily loose). Also, the bevel in the internal cylinder makes the locking process faster, it was a simple nice touch.

I bought the first one around January for my D'Angelico Excel SS, and I just bought a second one for my PRS. BTW: I had to enlarge the PRS pin hole a tad bit, but for the D'Angelico, since the drill hole had the same size from the Schaller screw, I only had to extend the hole using a longer thin drill.

The only downside, maybe: the unit that is installed on the strap is a bit longer than the previous model (and the Dunlop strap model as well). But, on the other hand, it looks nice and it is more reliable than other strap models you can find.

I'll stick with the originals.....For now.

I have the old style (originals?) on my guitars. I've been using them since the 80's. I've never had an issue with installing them on any type of strap or guitar and I've never had one break or come loose causing me to drop or break an instrument. I am sure these new style s-locks are every bit as secure as their predecessors but I don't need the extra length in the threaded part of the device. I do however, highly recommend some form of strap lock. It's like life insurance for your instrument.

Their best product yet!

I swapped these out for my old Schaller Strap Locks. I had started experiencing shoulder pain and had to get 3" wide leather straps, which help a lot with shoulder pain. My original Schaller strap locks weren't really adequate for the job, and I almost dropped my guitar in worship. So when I saw these, I immediately got three sets. This is a vast improvement. First, the button for your guitar is one piece, and hex head, which means it's easier not to strip out. Second, the beefy lock ring and longer spline mean I can use my thick Boss leather guitar straps without cutting them up. Third, the locking screw keeps that sucker secure. Fourth, the guitar buttons have felt pads. So this immediately felt way better, and was a heck of a lot more secure.

The Schallers are meant to replace your own buttons. That's NOT a design flaw. That's an improvement. Now if you want to swap back to the originals if you uninstall the Schallers, you can do that. The included buttons that had built-in screws (not separate) screwed in with confidence, and tightly.

I am very, very pleased with these. Definitely five stars!

Quality Locks

Everybody knows Schaller makes quality pieces so this comes as no surprise. What was nice to see was how well they handle thick strap ends. There's plenty of threads to be able to easily start the nut on even the thickest strap. Then when you get the tension just right you cinch down the set screw in the side of the nut and you're done. I did put a spot of blue locktight on the setscrew, but then I'm an engineer who over-builds everything. This is a very well thought out design.

Rolls Royce of strap locks

These are the gold standard of strap locks. Schaller even managed to improve on their "old" style. Now you can install without any tools except a jewler's screwdriver.

They work great, look great and install easily. And they're reasonably priced!

Not StewMac's fault--just don't think Schaller has improved things that much

The saying goes, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." Seems like everyone is improving things these days--keeps people employed. But I don't think Schaller has totally improved their strap lock. I own a number of old ones and they worked just fine except the screw to anchor the button. I like that improvement. The one piece screw/washer is great--not sure what the point of the set screw is--using it would ruin the thread I imagine. But the entire lock fights the guitar for attention. It's HUGE! I think Schaller just went too far the other direction. Now it's so big it sticks out like a sore thumb. It's just ugly. So if aesthetics are an issue for you, you may not like this "upgrade". Hope that helps someone.

S-Locks work great

By

These Schaller S-Locks work great on on my Martin and Strat. I will be adding them to my Les Paul and new guitar build ES335. The only one it didn't work on was on my Breedlove on the base of the guitar, because the cord gets plugged through the strap mtg plug. Otherwise they make changing straps very easy.
