Excellent Pickguard material

I've used this material on many guitars and ukuleles with perfect results.
The trick to installing it bubble/gap free is laying it down with water.
I did a youtube video on the method.

Clear pick guard

The material was simple to apply, however it is too thin and may have to be replaced if the guitar is played aggressively. Would need to order thicker, more rigid material.

First build guitar

I used this pick guard on my first build acoustic guitar through the Brisbane Guitar Making School in Qld. I applied a shellac finish on the guitar and it blends in very nicely. I prefer it to other pick guards as it doesn't interfere with the overall look of the guitar (which I love!!). I will use this pick guard on all my future builds. Thank you for offering an incredible product. Love it!! Cheers, Pete

If you own a Guitar that has no Pick Guard , this is the remedy to protect your Baby without changing it's looks . This is the first Clear Pick Guard material that I got RIGHT the first time ! Easy to apply , makes your Guitar Scratch Proof and it won't break the Bank . Easy Instructions and I didn't have one flaw , like a bubble , to iron out . My Taylor T-5 looks Great and is protested from when I get crazy with the Plectrum , put this Product on your Guitar , you won't regret it !

Mylar Pickguard Material

Every year I go to Mexico for a musical vacation. Last year I visited the town of Paracho in Michoacán. Paracho is a town of 40,000 devoted almost entirely to lutherie, making guitars. Entering town, there is a 50 ft statue of a guitar. So I bought one. I'm keeping it at a friend's house down there. The only problem with the guitar (it plays and sounds great!) its that is has no pick guard. So looked on line for adhesive mylar to make one and StewMac came up. I got just the right material and will be taking to Mexico this year to put it on my "guitarra de Paracho". Thanks StewMac.

Too thin

We build flamenco guitars and needed a larger tap plate (golpeador) for double top guitars. This sheeting is too thin for this purpose.

protects ukuleles from strumming damage wothout being noticed

Fairly easy to apply even dry. Make a pattern cut clean and apply. The film does not effect the loudness, but it is noticeable. Use the least area to protect, The film attenuates the higher range more than lower tones. the break seems to be around middle C on the Ukulele. reentrant tuning is least noticeable.

Ripply finish when installed

By

Verified Buyer

Stew-Mac, please get this in a .010" thickness. I know it's available because I get it from another supplier. I'd rather just order it from you guys. The thicker stock lays down smoothly with a glossy finish that causes it to seemingly disappear on a gloss top. This thinner material does not. It is discouraging to spend hours on buffing out a guitar only to add a clear guard that appears somewhat orange peel-like or ripply.

Thank you for your feedback. We are happy to pass this suggestion along to our Product Development Team for review.

Easy as pie

This material is super easy to cut with scissors or a good blade. It goes on easy, and stays. I buy it all the time and use it up quickly. I've had similar material from other vendors, but they usually don't pack it correctly and when you get it there is a crease or two, rendering it useless. The stewmac ones always come in pristine condition.
