Grover Mini Roto-Grip Locking Rotomatics (505 Series) 6-In-Line Tuners

About This Item

Fast string changes and non-slip tuning! Rear thumbscrew locks the string for non-slip tuning and fast string changes. For 6-in-line pegheads.

Traditional Rotomatics® with a twist! Simply wind the string once, tighten knob, and tune to pitch! You'll need fewer string wraps, change strings faster, and your tremolo will have more accurate return-to-pitch.

For 6-in-line pegheads only.

Mini Roto-Grip tuners for 6-in-line pegheads feature:
• 18:1 gear ratio for precise tuning
• Cast gear housings with no-hassle lifetime sealed lubrication
• Traditional mini Rotomatic removable metal knobs

Mounting screws and threaded hex peghead bushings with washers are included.
10mm-diameter (13/32") pegholes required.

Installation Tips

Mounting screws: Pilot holes required. Installing delicate screws into hard wood requires great care and accuracy. We highly recommend the #1712 Depth-stop Drill Bit (5/64" bit) for the pilot hole before installing these screws. Lubricate the screw threads with cutting lubricant (also wax or a bar of soap) to reduce friction and help them thread properly.

I like the way these work

I've got a wiggle stick on one of my main guitars that had a very good set of standard Grovers on it for years and years. This set up worked very well until we added some songs requiring a bit more aggressive wiggle sticking. I've used a number of locking tuners over the years (been playing for 50+) and they all left something to be desired. These have been on for more than a week of practice and rehearsals and the stability is very, very good. I like the way the mechanism works. Recommended.

Outstanding! Love the 18:1 ratio

These are now my favorite locking tuners due to the high quality & precise 18:1 turn ratio.

Chrome Mini Roto-Grip Locking Rotomatics (505 Series 6-In-Line Tuners

These are really a step up for the Fender Squier Stratocaster original tuners! I'm sure some who have the Fender Squiers are ok with the tuners, but mine just were not working very well on this new guitar. The 505 Locking Rotomatics once installed work superb . Very linear with the 18:1 ratio rather than the original 15:1. (Somewhere I read the originals are 14:1, but I counted the turns and mine were 15:1, so the Grover's 18:1 are much nicer). The Grovers are a superior upgrade.

Drilling the old holes out to .391" should not be undertaken lightly. IT SHOULD NOT BE DONE BY AN OLD ELECTRICAL HAND DRILL as I did. I had several holes break wood off the headstock when the 25/64" (.391") drill exits the hole. I'm no luthier and it showed. A real drill press with the guitar securely mounted and stationary, or take it to a real luthier and get it done properly. Luckily the tuners cover up most of the sloppy work I did. GREAT TUNERs once installed. I also purchased the 5/64" depth-stop drill bit {Item # 1712} as recommended for the small mounting hole for the backside of the headstock and that worked very well.

Make no mistake, drilling the old 8mm holes out on the Fender Squier to .391" requires the right tools or at least someone who knows what they are doing with wood so you don't ruin the holes and the headstock!

Great for tuning accuracy

I bought these locking tuning machines for a Strat clone I am piecing together. The tuning is so smooth and easy to get right on pitch and since they are locking tuners they stay in tune perfectly.

Great for 12 strings

By

I bought 2 sets to put on a 12 string a few years ago. Replacing strings on one of those is a major hassle, and these make it easy. They were missing from StewMac for quite a while and, although I don't expect to be getting another 12 string, it's a comfort to have them back.

Very sturdy and precise tuning gear. I think it's one of the better tuning machines out there.

Excellent product, but wished I had purchased gold!

Purchased the chrome version, and am very impressed with the quality. Tuning seems to be very stable, as long as the peg heads are tightened securely. Very easy to mount, given that these have 3 little prongs that will press into the guitar's wood to locate when securing screw holes need to be drilled.

They are very solid, provide a nice weight to the headstock.

Good.... but not the best

I put these on a Strat and they work. One of them fell apart the first time I used it but they seem to be fine now. I will always go for Sperzels from this point on.
