Preservation Polish

About This Item

Silicone-free and repair shop friendly, with no wax or silicone residues. 12-ounce bottle.

Preservation Polish gently cleans, polishes and protects lacquer and varnish finishes.

Ordinary guitar polishes shine by leaving a long-lasting silicone residue that's very hard to remove. If your guitar ever needs a repair, the silicone will prevent glue or finish from adhering, making even simple repairs more difficult and costly.

Simply apply Preservation Polish with a clean cotton cloth. It leaves no wax or silicone residues, so there's no cloudy film, stickiness or build-up. And it won't discolor the patina of vintage finishes.

Luthiers and repair shops: You've learned the hard way that guitars and silicone are bad company. Silicone residue makes it difficult for glue or finish to adhere properly and is a primary cause of "fisheyes" and cratering in lacquer finishes. It's even worse if silicone reaches bare wood or gets into the cracks of older finishes. Even the simplest finish repairs can become more difficult, time-consuming and costly. Do your colleagues a favor — use Preservation Polish and recommend it to your customers!

I just got my Preservation Polish yesterday and used it on my old 1960s Silvertone acoustic guitar!! Wow, came out fantastic!! Cleaned up the guitar amazing with no film and a shine I have never seen before by any other polish!!! Going to use on my other guitars and basses!! Heck, might as well use it on my wood furniture too!! Amazing polish, highly recommended!! Thanks Stewmac!!

I bought this to use as the final step in cleaning my Martin and Yamaha acoustics. I started with D'Addario Planet Waves Restore Deep Cleaning Polishing Cream. and it got a lot of really fine scratches out, and removed mild hazing. And when I followed up with the Preservation polish, it was like day and night. The depth and quality of shine is nothing short of fantastic. I can't see me using anything else.

Up until now, I've been using more expensive brand name guitar polishes. Preservation Polish is a bargain price, and does as good or better a job at removing smudges and oils from the guitar finish than the brand name polishes do. Leaves no residue and only requires the lightest of buffing to get that "like new" lustre. Plus, I can rest assured that I'm not screwing things up with any silicone ingredients. One drawback is the mineral spirits in this formula tends to dry out the skin on my hands just a bit, so I use nitrile gloves when cleaning my guitars with Preservation Polish.
