Best kept secret in banjo strings

I built my first 5 string banjo 40 years ago. I call her my Number One. I built her from parts that I bought from various vendors including Stew-Mac, so I could have chosen any strings that were available, and I had tried several different brands, but I chose 5 Star light gauge. They worked great. Many banjos later I still like 5 Stars the besr.

Got these on a whim for my Deering Sierra. I really like the thread covered loop end. The sound wasn't great at first but after 24hrs they sound great.

I received the Vega Pete Seeger model banjo a year ago when a friend died and willed it to me. I had no idea how old the strings were at the time but practiced on it for almost a year and decided it was time for new strings. What a difference! Nice brilliant ring now.

Can't say I was impressed or disappointed, just strings but are a lot cheaper than ESS strings and look and preform about the same and they are from StewMac, that's a plus.

Unfortunately I had a string pop while tuning to pitch, the good news was the normal outstanding Stewmac customer service, they wasted no time shipping me a new set of strings. I gave a 3 star rating because of the service, not necessarily the product.
