Phosphor Bronze was introduced to string making by D'Addario in 1974 and has become synonymous with warm, bright, and well balanced acoustic tone. D'Addario Phosphor Bronze strings are precision wound with corrosion resistant phosphor bronze onto a carefully drawn, hexagonally shaped, high carbon steel core. The result is long lasting, bright sounding tone with excellent intonation.

  • Preferred for its warm, bright, and well balanced acoustic tone
  • Environmentally friendly, corrosion resistant packaging for strings that are always fresh
  • Made in the U.S.A. for the highest quality and performance

Bluegrass guitar/arthritis/ruster. Not the best combo for a guitarist so I change strings often. Rusters' sweat degrades the bronze fairly quickly so I used to use the coated strings. But maybe just me, they aren't as crisp in the bass and mids as the uncoateds. Using the thinnest ones. I'd love to use a heavier gauge for more pop and less buzz but I can't even do a barre F. Not so much discomfort, but DJD makes your fingers weak. So these strings have been the best for me and even if you don't have DJD they'll sound great on your G runs.

These have been MY strings since the Folk Revival of the early 1960's. Nuff said.

Back then, when we were poor (all of us. heheh) we boiled the old strings in a sausepan we used only for this. All the, well, MOST of the crud between the windings came out and made the water in the pot look awful!! So just that one use for that pot. BUT it brought the strings about 80% back!
Listen to Nick Drake, we liked our strings pretty gone, Went well with our voices... LOVE these strings!
