Treated to help prevent "fisheyes" (cratering) in waterbase finishes. These papers last longer—we use them in our own shops.

Sold individually in 9" x 11" (23cm x 28cm) sheets.

These papers are graded on the "P-scale," indicating a truly uniform cutting surface (read about abrasive grading scales in our Finishing Step-by-Step book).

Here's how we use these abrasives in our own instrument shops:
"After spraying the build coats on my guitar finishes, I sand with 320 grit Fre-Cut, then spray and sand again. Then I move on to 400, 600, and 800 grit. Don't skip grits! Using all the grits makes the work easier for each sheet, and they last a lot longer."
Todd Sams, StewMac Production Manager and builder of Sams guitars

Best sandpaper around.

I use 400 to 800 grit for dry leveling my topcoats. They don't clog and last a long time.

Great for finishing lighter colour wood bodies - Ash ext..

Worked wonders when finishing an ash Strat guitar body. As the wood is light, choosing similar colour sandpapers as the wood is recommended. When burnishing with oil, fragments of sandpaper mix with the oil and sanded wood to form a slurry and fill the pores (whcih can result in a hideous mess if the sandpaper is dark and falls appart easily). I used 400 - 600 - 800 grit in Gold Fre Cut and recommend it for lighter woods. I did use small sections and could only use them once with oil, as its a struggle to get oil out of the paper, but this would be the case with all papers. Using small sections limited my sandpaper waste. Perhaps use acetone, I didn't try it though as the paper is cheap enough. After 800 grit Gold Fre Cut I moved on to 3M flexible polishing papers. I achieved great results. Pores filled very nicely, a gloss finish with a product that i was told I would only be able to achieve a satin finish with. 3M flexible polishing papers go up to 8000 grit. No Wonder I acheved a gloss! 3M Fre-Cut and 3M flexible polishing papers are a good combination in this case.

Great Abrasive Paper

This is the best Abrasive paper that I have used. It outlast all the others, and I have tried many. You actually can wipe or shake off the sanding dust from the paper. And I have not had any clumping. I think some others that have clumping issues might make sure the surface they are sanding has cured properly first if it is a finish or the sanding of bare wood is not being forced with the wrong grit abrasive being used. The Adhesive roll that Stew Mac sells meet the same standard. Great Job! Larry Threet, Lexington SC

Awesome

There defenitly is a big difference between sandpaper and sandpaper. This 220 grit eats more wood than the 80 grit paper of my previous brand

What a difference

I never considered that the choice of sandpaper could make such a difference in performing this task that is so important to the final results. I think I'll be using this from now on.
