Scraper Burnisher

Sharpening a scraper was very tricky for me at first. It took a while for me to really get the hang of it but the DVD and this little tool really helped out. I've tried many different tools and methods and this burnisher is one of the fastest and easiest to use. I've tried a traditional burnishe, the veritas adjustable burnisher, the woodsmith jig and of course this one. For large rectangular scrapers I prefer the veritas adjustable burnisher. For curved and small scrapers this one is by far the best. My only complaints is that I feel the dvd should be included since it really is instruction manual but the dvd is very handy and it is worth the extra money for it. All in all this tool is very portable and it can handle all types of scrapers easily so it's definitely a good investment and I highly recommend it.

I've used scrapers for forever, and have run the gamut of sharpening them with screwdrivers, burnishers, jigs....this is by far the easiest, quickest and LEAST EXPENSIVE way to go! Flawless results in no time!

This is one of my favorite luthier type gadgets. A time saver for sure and does a fine job on a good scraper.

The scraper is great but the DVD is very poor, the quality is very low (at least what SM had a few years ago) what's making it over priced

The burnisher is well made, and does a great job of putting an edge on the scrapers! I wouldn't want to do any scraping without it!

It looks simple, maybe you could make your own from a drill bit and scrap wood. But why bother, it's cheap and does an excellent job. Really easy to use and gives a far better edge than the screwdriver I used to ruin. The DVD was a bit superfluous though, the printed instruction does suffice.

For all those who start with the mystery of getting a scraper sharp!

Great tool, works all the time, durable steel, worth ten times the money.
If you have problems getting the scraper sharp with the traditional tool, get the DVD, do it that way, the sharpener will help you!

A must-have to keep your scrapers sharp and usable. Really takes the mystery away and gives consistent results. A few seconds swiping when you feel your scraper needs it, and you are back in business. Another one of those tools that I didn't know I couldn't do without, but now I can't imagine doing without - Stewmac seems to have a lot of those!!

So, it's a little more trouble to sharpen a scraper than just sticking the edge on a belt sander, but as I suspected the proper edge this tool puts on a scraper makes all the difference in the world. I'd say this tool is a must.

I often question my sanity when spending money on stuff like this - after all, 'it's just a stick with a nail through it'. But after trying it I found that I like it...a LOT!
