Instructions
Perform more accurate routing without guesswork.
This is a high quality tool, made of durable machined steel, brass and aluminum. No plastic! Each turn of the large knurled thumbwheels adjusts your Dremel's cutting depth by .035" (.889mm). You can rout an inlay cavity that's precisely compensated for the thickness of the pearl and glue, for less sanding later. Tall twin handles give you excellent control for freehand routing, and you get a good view of your work. There's even a built-in nozzle for attaching a mini air pump to continuously blow away the dust—you'll rout inlay cavities more precisely, for a better fit requiring less filler.

Make your Dremel a more versatile guitar shop tool.
The Precision Router Base is a direct fit on our attachments:

Saddle slotting

Soundhole/Rosette Routing Jig
Purfling/Soundhole Router Guide

Binding Edge Guide
Use your Dremel to cut clean binding channels up to 3/8" thick.

And here's a tip from Dan Erlewine: clamp the Dremel and router base upside-down on your workbench, and use the bottom of the router base as a mini drum sander, as Dan Erlewine did for a Gibson L-1 archtop bridge in this issue of our Trade Secrets Newsletter.

Installation is easy.
Simply unscrew the threaded plastic collar on the nose of the Dremel, and screw on the Precision Router Base. Its 3/4-12 thread fits:
Dremel 4000, 400XPR, Professional, MultiPro and most corded models made since 1986
Black & Decker Wizard and RTX
Our Foredom custom handpiece

Perfect Tool - Finest with Proxxon

The first few days I worked with this base and a Dremel 4000. Then I switched to my Proxxon. For the Proxxon I had to modify the mounting bar non-reversible. First I had to widen the slot for the 20mm Proxxon neck. Next I had to cut a thread to add a thumb screw to fix the Proxxon.

The combination of the Precision Router Base and the Proxxon is a dream team.

The base is now easy to handle and very precise.

The Proxxon is much (!) more quieter and has no vibrations an nearly no radial runout. Since there is no thread on the Proxxon attachment, I can rotate and fix the Proxxon in the modified Precision Router Base similar as in a drill stand. (The Dremel 4000 motor has blown in my face while working).

StewMac should consider to offer a 20mm mounting block for Proxxon as they are very popular here in Europe.

A "Must-Have"

This is the smallest Router base I've ever used. It's light weight and design make it a breeze to use. Although it's been designed to accommodate dremel tools, it also fits onto my Mastercraft rotary tools. This router base would be an asset to any shop. Thanks Stew-Mac!!

Precision router base

USA to UK in two working days. Excellent service. The router base got used straight out of the box on a job that had plagued me for well over a week. It was completed inside 15 minutes of the arrival of this attachment. Delighted and recommended.

Router Base

I have to admit, I can only rate the quality workmanship & material used in this router base, I've not used it yet, but from what I see it will be a great addition to my tools.

Huge upgrade to Dremel tool....

I purchased the router base along with the rosette jig. The two items worked together fabulously and allow very precise small changes in depth and radius. I am using the sprial carbide cutters and the results were absolutely perfect. The circle cutter that came with the Dremel is in the trash.

High Quality Tool

This is a great tool. It attched to my Dremel tool easily and was good to go. Have also used it at work to carve shapes into low-density foam (this base works much better than the plastic Dremel router base). The only problem I encountered was the two flat-head screws (securing the base to the posts) vibrated loose during use-I just applied some Loctite 242 to the screw threads and-problem solved! Very cool tool indeed!

Excellent router base

This is an excellent router base and the price is good too. I have seen plastic Dremel router bases for a higher price and there is no comparison.

Essential for inlay work

The Precision Router Base gives you total control over inlay work with your Dremel. Highly recommended with downcut router bits.

Great tool

I've got two of these...one for doing inlay and one connected to the circle cutting jig. These are precision tools and do exactly as advertised. I am very impressed.
