Unbleached Bone Saddles

Read 13 Reviews   |   Write a Review

Bone is traditionally favored for quality instruments. Our unbleached bone is harder than bleached white bone with a mottled cream color that has an vintage look. Its hardness and density contributes to good tone, it polishes well, and it allows more precise filing.

Blank saddles have oversize length and height, for custom shaping in your shop. They're ready for trimming, filing, sanding and slotting.

Pre-shaped saddles will save you a LOT of work—a head start for the novice, and a timesaver for the busy shop. The sizes have been carefully researched, and accurately radiused, so that minor trimming, slotting, and sanding are usually all you'll need to do.

Good news: our super-hard vintage-look unbleached bone saddles are available with B-string compensation too, so you'll save even more time! Minor trimming and height adjustment are usually all you'll need to do.

"These pre-radiused saddles save me LOADS of shaping time. Bone is my favorite material for great tone, too."

great bone - great tone

I have bought several vintage bone nut and saddles from stew mac. I always buy the blanks so I can cut them to match the radius of the neck & bridge. The best bone for the tone I have ever used. Thanks Stew Mac

Terrific color

Looks absolutely authentic. Great product...I use them on new guitars for a classic look and the response has been very positive.

saddle blanks

The ones supplied are big enough to make 1 of the 2 strips on the bridge where the string ties around. Maybe you could sell the tiny strips or sell the blank even wider.

Very Good Saddle

These saddles need a little work to fit, but the result is a custom fit saddle that sounds great, earthy and balanced. Looks old and full of tone. All my acoustics are getting bone saddles and pins.

Excellent

You get what you pay for, but I'm gonna start stealing bones from the dog to save some scratch...

Nice!!

I have an older Takamine elec/acoustic. With a little shaping & sanding, it's like I have a brand new guitar. The tone is rich & creamy now!!

Vintage Bone Saddle

After finding, cutting and shaping a piece of bone by hand, the pre-shaped vintage bone saddle was worth every penny. Very few adjustments were made and great quality.

A little extra

I'm no luthier but I can work with my hands some so I decided to change the plastic saddle on my Martin to bone and take advantage of a tonal increase. After some shaping and sanding, I fitted the saddle in the bridge just right. After some minor adjustments and bone end pins, the Martin is as sweet as new.
