Bleached White Bone Nuts

I asked what kind of bone this was and got immediate response. I used the martin bleached blank to make two fiddle nuts. The endless pursuit of better sound. Definite improvement over ebony. Gets rid of that nasal honky sound. :)

I just wasted 4 hours trying to install one of the pre-made Gibson nuts on an SG. The problem with these nuts is that they do not resemble a stock Gibson nut. The radius is so flat that unless you file the top to match (thereby ruining the string slots - so what is the point of a preshaped nut), by the time you lower the 1st and 6th strings to the right height, the middle strings are buzzing on the 1st fret. Do not buy these.

I've ordered a bunch of these, and they are always consistent in their quality.

I like working with these bone nuts, as opposed to delrin or plastic. They go beautifully with my dulcimers.

Ordered #6010 (bleached Gibson blank). Received blank with chipped ends in a natural tone. "Bleached" or not, it's not bone-white. Plan to return and not order again.

I was a little hesitant to fiddle with setting action myself, so I bought some blanks figuring if I goofed I could always just reinstall the original nut with no harm done. No worries though- after a couple evenings careful work with hand tools I had a much improved custom setup and the ability to tweak it further any time I like. Now I'm doing all my guitars! Highly recommended, even for newbies- thanks Stew-Mac.

As expected, this bone nut blank is easy to shape with files and the polish gives a great quality finish. Fit well on my custom resonator guitar.

I ordered some bone nut blanks to replace the nut on my Les Paul and three other guitars. Now all my guitars have a bone nut and they've never sounded better! Couldn't be happier.

Unlike a lot of blanks I've purchased these were squared up very well on all sides. They cut and shape easily for bone with no chipping. They polished well and should last a long time now that they're in place. I plan to purchase more for future jobs.
