Precision Router Set

This is a precision tool, very well designed and will do what it is designed to do. Some complain about router vibration causing screws and adjustment to come loose. Like any tool, the operator must learn to co-exist with the tool. Even a screw driver can disappoint, if not properly used. One might try some medium strength Loctite to keep vibration from loosening screws. An occasional check for loose parts is always a good idea. A little effort and this tool will serve you well.

I ordered this but when it came it was damaged in shipping. The bolt that holds the edge guide was bent out of a 90 degree angle. StewMac shipped me a whole edge guide and it arrived the next day. Then they left a message on my phone a few weeks later to see if I was happy with it. The product works fantastically and I am constantly surprised at StewMac's friendly costumer service, insanely fast and reliable shipping and also their pride in quality.

I purchased this kit to do some inlay work on my first guitar kit and thought I would maybe try
It on the binding that I was scared of doing and this tool worked like a charm on both jobs, very precise and well made.

Very well made quality item. When used in combination with the circle cutting attachment, it's a fantastic rosette and sound hole cutter. I just mark the scale, dial it in and it's perfect every time. The binding cutter leaves a little to be desired especially if you have a well shaped back but thats the case with any base riding rabet cutter. For modest to minimal back curved instruments, it works well.

As a german engineer I guess that I'm a little choosy. But this little piece of a tool is the best what I found in the United States. It is excellent manufactured and very simple to use. The reason that I didn't give it five stars are the accessories. The edge guide is barely to use and the pump is a joke.

I had a tricky job to drop a rosette into a guitar that didn't have one. I created a jig in the guitar and the StewMac rosette cutter and precision router base dropped right in and made a perfect cut. I used the fine adjust to shave a little more for a great fit. This would not have been possible with Dremel's wobbly router base.

Nice hardware. Very good for inlays. Inlays take practice and can be frustrating, but this tool is a great help.

The Edge Guide works great, allows for cutting channels for binding smoothly. The stand works well to, my only complaint is that the screws tend to rattle loose after awhile.The main reason I took off two stars is that the air pump is terrible. It barley moves the dust around, all it did was make a bunch of noise.

This base does exactly what is's made for precision, the mini pump blows away the dust.

The edge guide is good but you do need a little practice for good result but if you do want to have a perfect result, I suggest to use a router with binding bits and bearing.

The only less positive point is that you have to check if the knob on precision base are tight enough, you don't want them to loose and ruin your binding

Great tool to add to my arsenal! Well engineered and made tool. Trimmed back the binding and popped the top off an old Gibson in nothing flat. Looking forward to working with this tool.
