The Menzerna Fine and Extra Fine buffing compounds work great. A mirror finish is achievable in very little time. See attached pic of a vintage 1964 Fender Mustang guitar I restored. I removed the original finish and then refinished using Seagrave vinyl sealer, ColorTone red lacquer tint, and Seagrave lacquer.
Despite the plethora of liquid buffing and polishing agents, none are as effective, consistent, clean and straightforward as these solid buffing compounds. Polishing from 1500 grit waterproof paper is quick and leaves none of the dusty residue of the liquid alternatives.
It has been over 32 years since using bar type buffing compounds and that was the Lea brand. I rate this product Excellent. My banjo neck and resonator buffed/polished out to a mirror finish.
