I bought this StewMac plated steel tailpiece after my 8-string resonator guitar had suffered three cp brass tailpiece failures in three years and had been frustratingly unusable whilst awaiting replacements from the USA.

I have bored and slotted the new StewMac 6-string steel tailpiece for the additional two strings and I'm hopeful that this tailpiece will last a lot longer than the brass units did. Tone is only marginally different with the steel tailpiece - perhaps a little less mellow.

I build a beautiful guitar and this is the thing people ask about. :-)
It really looks great. Just TAKE YOUR TIME locating the center line. If your off at all, you will have to plug the screw hole and move it.

As per the title, all kidding aside, the steel tailpiece was a wonderful replacement to the plated brass tailpiece that is prone to breakage. In my case it was a simple installation on my spider resonator that took all of fifteen minutes and I was back to playing music. I do believe the tailpiece even helped the tone.
