Really pretty nice tuners

I purchased these tuners for fixing up an old garage sale guitar. They are better quality than I expected and were an exact fit. They look great and work terrific.

Economy 3-on-plate tuner

I inherited an old National lap steel with a busted tuner so I really was looking for something heavy duty to accommodate thicker strings but I didn't want to spend a lot. The problem was finding something with the proper spacing and this unit was the only one that might slip right in without re-drilling. When it arrived I was impressed with the general quality, reasonable looking gears, nice chrome finish with decorative etching and it even had new screws. They slipped in without issue and the screw holes even lined up-bonus. The test will be to see if they keep in tune and that may cause me to re-visit this in the future. At present, they are an unbelievable buy for the money.

Seems good so far.

I put this tuners on an old guitar banjo that had a broken tuner. It fitted right on. Seems to be good quality for the money.

Restored My First Guitar

My first guitar was made by Egmond Frères and it was cheap. Over time I broke two of the tuning knobs and have since got some better guitars. My Egmond Frères remained neglected for years. Then I discovered that a similar model Egmond Frères was George Harrison's first guitar. I believe Jimmy Page started with one of these and I just saw a photo with a very young Robert Fripp playing one. I searched for a set of cheap 3 on plate tuners that had four screws. There are many with three but the one on my guitar had four. I ordered this set from Stewart-MacDonald. They arrived quickly. I took of the old tuners and discovered that only one screw hole lined up. I used an awl and a small drill to make pilot holes and installed the tuners. It was an easy job and took about ten minutes. Some lemon oil applied to all the wood before installing the tuners and some new light gauge strings followed by some adjustment with an electronic tuner to set the floating bridge in place and my old cheap first guitar plays better than ever. The holes from the old set of tuners are covered up by the new set. The action of the new tuners is very smooth without any binding or resistance, which is a problem I had with the old ones. Tuning with these is easy. I'm quite happy with my little restoration project.

Bargain Parlors

Several years ago, I was given a walnut log taken out by a storm. Aged it, Split it, Resawed it, Build several Ukes with it and now I am doing an all walnut Parlor that I hope will be a prototype of many to follow. These tuners are great for the price. I suspect they will be all I need for future parlor guitars!

Great deal

I replaced the worn out 3 on a plates on my '03 Art & Lutherie Parlor. They slid right into the old pegholes. Three of the mounting screw holes on each side even matched. When finished no sign of where the old ones were. Work great with the nice retro ivory buttons and open gears.

Economical and quality

Perfect item for replacing worn tuners on a low end acoustic. Amazing quality for the price. I restored this old 1935 Richter acoustic distributed by Mongomery Ward. Great deal from Stewmac

hi value economy tuners

I was expecting to pay $60 range for tuners to repair a neighbor's old, family Gibson. I was quite surprised when I found these inexpensive ones, but the quality is great and affordable for this old guitar. Worked great, the gearing was nice and tight - a perfect fix to get this old family friend playable again.
