The Schaller Locking tuners is as good as it gets. I've tested lots of other brands of tuners on my builds, name it and I've tested them. But these beat them all. Smooth action, precision made and beautiful finish.
I use these with pearloid buttons on a lot of guitars. I prefer the thicker locking-knob over the Sperzers. Kind of pricey, but they are very solid.
Have em both .. Schallers are simpler to use, better locking wheel and add perfect weight to the neck
3 a Side locking tuners. It's good to know that if your guitar is ever caught up in a thermo-nuclear explosion, your tuners will survive. Chromed and heavy! Hidden locating pin does away with mounting screws that seem to strip if you attempt to undo them. 16:1 ratio and s-m-o-o-t-h winding makes tuning accurate. Best of all, you just poke in the string, tighten the large knurled nut and you are tuning. No pre-winding and no extra coils around the peg to make tuning non-linear. Will they make you play better? No. Do they look vintage? No. One side benefit of their weight, was that balance of my guitar on the strap was improved. The price was good too!
These came stock on my G&L S-500 and I wanted a set on my G&L ASAT Classic. Replaced the ASAT standard tuners with these in about 10 minutes and all is good. Excellent service from StewMac!
These are the most consistent and well built tuners that I have used. Excellent gear ratio for accurate tuning. Will use on all future builds.
I absolutely love these tuners! Its made string changes so much faster and easier and like they should, they keep the guitar in tune really well. I go through an entire show without having to worry about tuning issues. The posts don't wobble one bit, and in fact, they're quite a snug fit in the tuner holes of my Godin Freeway Classic. The only issue I have with these tuners is that they added a little bit of extra weight on the guitar at the headstock, but that's nothing that I cannot get used to.
Retro-fitted these tuners onto a guitar which previously had lezrepS locking tuners. I like the higher gear ratio and the smoother feel of the Schaller tuners. They also look nicer in my opinion. Priced higher than competitor 'leztrepS' or the 'redneF' branded version of these tuners but worth it. Highly recommended. Install using the Tuner Pin Drill Jig and it will be a breeze.
I'm perfectly happy with them, they look great and work just fine, the guitar stays in tune as it should.
These tuners are of the absolute best quality. Very smooth operation and 16:1 ratio makes tuning as easy as possible. The locking mechanism on the rear of the tuners has a good grip and is a wider grip than the other brands so tightening/loosening them is easy. The look is of pure quality. I will continue to use these on the instruments I make and is my first recommendation when upgrading tuners.
