Wiring Kit for Gibson^® Les Paul^® Guitar

Well, OK, I'm not an electrician I guess. I just used this kit to ruin my Les Paul. So now I have to spend more money to put my guitar in the shop to have it repaired, because now it no longer works. If you're not an electrical whiz, do not buy this kit, instead get one of the pre-wired kits from elsewhere. Part of this is my fault, but the alleged instructions that came with the kit totally sucked, no help at all to me. Total waste of time and money.

The parts in this kit are quality. My only gripe(s): It would have been nice to have a length of 2-conductor with shielding for the leads running from volume pots to the switch. (I purchased some 2-conductor with shield at a local electronics supply store. The ground was sturdier than SM's, and didn't fall apart at all). It was difficult to determine which wires went where - I wound up buying additional 28 gauge wire in different colors as well as 2 audio taper pots for the volume controls. SM's seemed to be ON or OFF without much taper. I found that the cap connections on your LP wiring diagram was unusual - I checked a Gibson LP a friend owns and saw the cap was soldered tot the same volume lug as the pickup hot wire, then to the center lug on the tone pot. The SM diagram shows the cap soldered to the ground lug on the volume pot.

They should offer a kit with CTS pots, but this one is still more than sufficient.

Recieved order very quickly. Switch & Pots great quality, the thread on the jack is a tad short. Wiring 2001 Epiphone LP Ltd: pre-cut length of shielded wire was too short to use, could not get 3 correct size pieces out of the remaining wire.

Much better than the stock I add on my Epiphone.

Used this to rewire an Ibanez semihollow...perfect! The wiring instructions are a little confusing (at least when you're comparing them to other pickup wiring schemes while trying to wire different companies pickups together! Whew!)
