Hipshot Ultralite Bass Tuners

I fixed or improved the balance and performance of a 90's LP and a '72 SB-350. Perfect classic elephant ears, better balance, and smooth, accurate tuning. They do everything perfectly, but they certainly charge enough for 'em!

What more can a person say since these are most likely the top of the line bass tuners on the market other than StewMac's price can't be beat and somehow they get them to me faster than if I picked up a set local (kidding of course).

I've bought Ultralites Bass a long time ago, but now reviews came out and want to use them.

These tuners are one of the most stable ones that exist, I can say even better than the tuners with locking ability. Alloy used is outstanding for this use, more rigid than conventional tuners and really light as the name says. When installed and not tuned for a while they kinda "lock" themselves and when you want to tune again you can feel and sometimes hear little "tack" when adjusting on the first move. That's very good, chances are way lower to accidentally detune the bass when storing or transporting.

Gear ratio is standard and works very good and is really really smooth (they have factory grease to improve smoothness and to reduce friction so gears would have longer life). With the black version washers are hard plastic but that is no problem at all since here the washer doesn't play any big role except minor diff in weight of the tuner (which again obviosly is not a big role for such small thing :)).

Personally, I'm blown away the way they look.. simple, recognizable and open so you know what are you dealing with.

I don't think I'll use another tuners for bass again. These are literally different than the others.

While working a restoration project on a 1990 Epiphone Accu 300 bass it became necessary to replace a stripped original tuner. The Hipshot Ultralite Bass Tuner dropped right in without modification to the guitar and is actually of much better quality than the remaining stock tuners in that it is tight, has no play in the shaft or tuning key and provides an extremely smooth and even winding action. I will definitely replace the remaining three stock tuners and would highly recommend this product to anyone wanting to upgrade their existing stock tuners.
