Not What I expected.....

Book was indeed somewhat helpful, but pretty vague on the subject and just touched the surface. I learned more from You tube!

Good basic guide

This book gives you a good overall view of the inlay process, including overall layout, marking out the inlay area, and cutting the inlay pieces.. Some sections however are a little vague on the procedural details. But in a couple sections, this book does a better job than other books on the subject from Larry Robinson and Grit Laskin, for instance how to deal with an inlay design that crosses where a fret bar will sit.

Essential beginner guide

Not excellent in breadth or alternative methods, but the ones described are helpful, as long as you look at other literature on the subject to put it in perspective. You'll want to try a few things & sort out what will work for you. Definitely essential for the shelf, but not quite the bible or exclusive guide.

Pearl Inlay a basic guide

The Pearl Inlay book is a basic guide to inlay and engraving. Some of the ideas presented are not the best or the easiest. I was a bit disappointed.

English

In general, the book is a good guide for the beginning inlay artist though I feel a little more detail, especially in finishing, would have been nice.
What really bothered me, however, was the poor grammar. Misspelled words, bad punctuation, and awkward phrasing were tedious to get through. A basic editor or even a proofreader might have required upping the price a little, but not enough to omit them.

great for making DYO tools for inlaying

Really complete book, with plenty of templates to build your own tools, and gadgets for inlay work. I only missed some color pics, but it is a really good book. I learnt a lot with it.
