After market string ferrules are not all alike. The size and depth can be all over the map. Stew-Mac continues to sell both shouldered and recessed ferrules I can depend on in my guitar work. Why go anywhere else?
No problems here.
I got 0196 and they will look very clean on an unfinished/oil finished body. The fact that they don't have a flange makes them a little less ideal for painted bodies because you have to be extra careful not to damage the paint at the edge of the hole.
Sometimes the holes close up a little from paint and clear coat accumulation. I have had success running a drill in reverse with 5/16 bit to open them back up. I saw a Fender video, and the lady assembling effortlessly popped them in by hand, and I wondered if they could fall out again. I like them to press in tightly, I use a drill press (off) and chuck jaws appropriately set to press on the perimeter of the ferrule.
Great product. Fit perfectly. Sturdy
I think they look much more appealing than a traditional tailpiece.
As always the best stuff from Stew-Mac.Never had an issue with you guys or any product, you're simply the best!
Not much to say really.they look great.I didn't have access to a drill press and had a little bit of trouble getting the holes to line up exactly.A little jig of some kind would be helpful next time I use them.
They do the job, can't say much.
These string ferrules press in perfectly for all my string thru builds. No issues. Eric Cellini
