Carbide Downcut Inlay Router Bits

About This Item

The best for inlay work and saddle slotting!
Solid carbide lasts far longer than steel, and reverse spiral flutes cut downward for cleaner, "no fuzz" edges in routed cavities.

To use our 1/8"-shank bits in your laminate trimmer's 1/4" collet, see our #5246 Adapter Collet.

Length 1-1/2" (38.10mm)
Shank diameter 1/8" (3.18mm)

Use the larger bits for removing wood in the middle of your inlay work, and save the fine bits for the fine details. The fine detail bits are fragile, for routing intricate details only.

Item Primary use Width of cut Depth of cut
5154 For inlay routing and bridge saddle slots 1/8" (0.1250", 3.18mm) 3/8" (0.375", 9.53mm)
5153 For inlay routing and bridge saddle slots 3/32" (0.0938", 2.38mm) 1/4" (0.250", 6.35mm)

Clean and precise cut

By

I bought this bit and two others, slightly bigger, to do some inlay work on my headstocks and fretboards. The cut is clean with no tear out, I'm very satisfied, I think it's worth the extra cost and custom fees if you order it from outside the USA.

These bits cut very well even in fibrous wood . Don't force these bits, they aren't meant to be muscled through wood. Take your time and you'll find that these work great!!!

This bit cuts smooth as can be. No fraying of the wood whatsoever. HIGHLY recommended!

Really great bits, but the smallest one broke the second time I used it. Fault with the bit? No, probably my incompetence! Take it nice and handy with the smallie and I'm sure you'll have no problem with it!!

Great Cut!

After using regular router bits longer than I should have, I finally got a 1/16 and 1/8 downcut bit and WHAT A DIFFERENCE! I also used the B&W purfling strips from Stew Mac for this OM sound hole and they worked just as good. Now it at least looks like I know what I'm doing.

Excellent Bits for all cuts

I bought a 3/32" bit and love it. I originally got it for inlay work on large cavities but after using it I have found it very useful for all cutting needs. My favorite use has been rosette cuts using the StewMac "Dremel" base and circle jig.

Good bits. The small ones are delicate and can break but they are pretty tough. In a compact router they cut like mad. They aren't cheap but you get what you pay for.
