Dragon Hand-cut Rasp

About This Item

Fast working, super-smooth cut.
Unequaled for neck shaping and contouring.

Dragon handcrafted steel rasps have become our first choice for quickly shaping instrument necks, solidbody guitar contours, custom jigs and clamping cauls.

Double-cut rasp has two different radii for quickly shaping a neck heel or the base of a peghead.

Dragon rasp teeth are individually hand-struck on both sides of each file, leaving a slightly random pattern that a machine-made rasp simply can't equal. This reduces chattering and "wandering," giving a smooth but aggressive cut.

Dragon rasps have the right shapes for contouring a variety of neck sizes.

Use the coarse rasp to quickly shape:
• Solidbody contours
• Necks and bridges
• Jigs and cauls

Follow with the fine rasp for:
• Final shaping
• Smoothing
• Softening corners

Large 10" long x 1-5/8" wide   (254mm x 41.28mm)
Small 6" long x 1-3/16" wide (152mm x 30.16mm)
Double-radius 7" long x 7/8" wide (178mm x 22.22mm)

Agressive and controllable -- just right for the rough work on maple.

Fine small Dragon hand-cut rasp

This is finer cut than I expected from the photos, but no matter. It cuts as effectively as rasps with much bigger teeth. It works very well.

Dragon rasps

I purchased these amazing dragon rasps a few years ago and they are my go to for shaping necks and body contours. I have jigs and machines that can use a router to shape a neck but honestly I prefer these rasps they are the best on the market anywhere in my opinion. One of my all time favorite tools could not build without them.

The Dragon Rasp works great, removes stock quickly and and leaves a easy to work with finish when done moved right on to sanding.

Amazing cutting power, and the triangle profile is great for nearly any place on the working area. Made my neck shaping even faster.

Gentle Yet Ferocious

The shop where I work part-time has one of these, and it's my favorite rasp out of all the ones we have available. I've used it to completely shape one Mahonany neck, and to partially shape probably a couple dozen necks of various woods, including Hard Rock Maple. Depending on your touch, you can use it to gently remove tiny wisps of wood, or really dig in to take off large amounts in a short time. I can't imagine a better rasp for shaping wood! With two sides, it's the best of both worlds - curved for radiused shapes and flat for longer, flatter shapes.

fast cutting rasp

I have used different rasps to shape guitar necks but this one is the best I have had. The cuts are not as deep as a course rasp but with twice as many teeth it removes wood like theirs no tomorrow, and there is less repair work to remove deep gouges. definitely recommend it

gets the job done very quickly, I highly recommend it. Might need gloves so you don't shred your hand.

Dragon Rssp

My recently purchased a Dragon Rasp that is simply the best tool addition that I have made in a long time! The rasp was accurately described and exceeded my expectations. I use the rasp to shape corner blocks and necks of violins. It takes the wood off cleanly and with moderate effort. The tool arrived promptly.
