Dragon Hand-cut Rasp

About This Item

Fast working, super-smooth cut.
Unequaled for neck shaping and contouring.

Dragon handcrafted steel rasps have become our first choice for quickly shaping instrument necks, solidbody guitar contours, custom jigs and clamping cauls.

Double-cut rasp has two different radii for quickly shaping a neck heel or the base of a peghead.

Dragon rasp teeth are individually hand-struck on both sides of each file, leaving a slightly random pattern that a machine-made rasp simply can't equal. This reduces chattering and "wandering," giving a smooth but aggressive cut.

Dragon rasps have the right shapes for contouring a variety of neck sizes.

Use the coarse rasp to quickly shape:
• Solidbody contours
• Necks and bridges
• Jigs and cauls

Follow with the fine rasp for:
• Final shaping
• Smoothing
• Softening corners

Large 10" long x 1-5/8" wide   (254mm x 41.28mm)
Small 6" long x 1-3/16" wide (152mm x 30.16mm)
Double-radius 7" long x 7/8" wide (178mm x 22.22mm)

Superb rasps

Bought the large course rasp for shaping necks. Removes material easily while leaving a very manageable finish, does not clog an the triangular double-sided shape give you lots of access/position options. Recommended.

Dragon Hand-Cut Rasp

This is an AWESOME Rasp! It's my tool of choice since I received it! Cuts and carves mahogany like butter. I even use it to shape my bridges. If I had a choice I'd order both the large and small Dragon Hand-Cut Rasp, but I have the Large and it provides the efficiency I need for sculpting and shaping necks to the Nth degree!

Dragon tooth file

The profile and fine teeth of this file will be great for shaping the curves in scrolls & tail pieces for my dulcimers. I didn't NEED it, but I'm glad I found it.

Japanese Fret Saw

By

Verified Buyer

As with my drum sander, I wish I had bought this Japanese fret saw a long time ago. Cutting "on the pull" is so much smoother and efficent than cutting "on the push". It will make cutting fret slots go in half the time and with much less work.

Best hand shaping tool ever

By

Verified Buyer

I can't build a guitar neck without these tools, I've been using mine for years and they are still sharp and I carve a lot of necks. I had a router jig for rough shaping the neck but I'm faster with these Wrasps now. I'm thinking of buying another set incase they stop selling them. In the top five tool I use in my shop.

Excellent finish

Used on mahogany ukulele neck. I used it following a Nicholson 49. Cuts fast and smooth, and leaves surface ready for 120 sandpaper. Happy with the smaller size.

Cut maple like if it was mahogany

Time and effort saver, I wish I would have known theme years ago! Another good point is it's very light weight I hope it will be sharp for long years, but as they are not so expensive, I could replace them more often if necessary.

Great tool for knifemaking too!

By

Verified Buyer

I'm not a luthier though I have worked on several guitars with good results in the past. I make custom knives and when I saw these rasps, I realized that I could shorten the time I spend on shaping the stabilized wood and thermal plastics I use on the handles. I pre-shape them on my knife grinder and then do all the final shaping with standard half round files. The small, fine dragon rasp blew me away with it's aggressive ability and in no time I was ready for sanding. Thanks for always coming up with great tools, many of which I have ordered and transferred their use to my custom knifemaking.

Saves time and effort.

This tool removes wood faster than even my roughest rasp and it leaves a much smoother finish which saves time smoothing out the neck. I'm really happy with it.

Very good at removing material

By

Verified Buyer

So I've tried the more expensive rasps (gramercy) and these dragon cut rasps remove more material and save time. Although the more expensive rasps leave a cleaner surface the difference is marginal. Plus most of the time I don't leave the rasped surface as is so I would recommend these dragon cut rasps over others I have tried. Maybe advertise them in other areas instead of only guitar making
