Making a glue scraper/saw

Dan Erlewine went to the Columbus Guitar Show to sell some fixer-uppers. Nobody bought this beautiful 1930s Kay Deluxe; its neck joint problem must have seemed like too much work. The guitar came back home and volunteered for this Trade Secret about making a tiny saw for cleaning old glue joints!

Good value saws

If you keep'em oiled, and reserved to lightweight jobs, as they're intended to, they'll last a lifetime. I like these saws for nut and saddle work. I can cut gauged notches for each string.

Veneer cutting and straight precision cuts, like neck joints are easily done with these saws.

A really handy set of gauged saws which allows for accurate initial cutting of nut slots and more! Highly recommended.

Ok but the teeth are pretty deep...

Works well to make the initial slot if I use a guard of some sort like stacked feller gauges so I don't go too deep.

.020" saw is a must-have

By Mudbug765 from Hartford City, IN

I use the .020 saw to cut fret slots, it is my favorite saw for cutting my own fret slots by hand. I've tried other saws, and they made a slot too wide. I also use this saw to clean slots out after using a radius sanding block on the fretboard.

Wow

I bought the 0.010" (0.25mm) one because i needed a saw with the thinnest blade possible to make fine cuts. I do not use it for the nuts but I use it for all the cuts where I don't want to remove too much material. You must have it
