Specs
Waverly tuners offer modern precision with vintage style. The special relic nickel finish is perfect for vintage and reproduction guitars.

With Waverly tuners, your guitar plays in tune and stays in tune. Their acclaimed design, precise 16:1 gear ratio, long-life stainless steel/bronze construction, and smooth, reliable operation have made them the favorite of renowned guitarmakers and musicians for their finest instruments.

Martin, Gibson, Collings, Santa Cruz, Huss & Dalton, Sams, Bourgeois and other guitarmakers specify Waverly tuners for their top-line instruments.

Why do the pros choose Waverly tuners?

Smoother, more efficient tuning.
Waverly's renowned gear mechanism is second to none. Waverly tuners feature a proven, precisely machined design ensuring accurate, efficient gear alignment. Nylon worm gear bushings enhance the smooth feel. The result: looseness is eliminated—your guitar plays in tune and stays in tune.

Longer life with less wear.
Waverly's stainless steel worm gear and machined bronze alloy string post gear are more durable than the brass gears used in other tuners.

Vintage details.
The look is right at home on vintage-style instruments. Authentic "Vintage Oval" knobs (as found on the famous late-'30s Martin D-28 played by Clarence White and Tony Rice) are solid brass, not die-cast, with the historically-correct shape not found on other modern tuners.

The sturdy steel baseplates have the authentic 1930s footprint. String posts are vintage-style tapered 1/4"-diameter brass, with press-fit knurled brass hex bushings to fit 11/32"-diameter pegholes. Slot-head mounting screws complete the vintage look; there are no additional holes to drill on many older Martins.

The cure for sweet old guitars with cranky old tuners!
Waverly Relics make your vintage or reproduction instrument look and tune as good as it sounds. The special relic nickel finish has that authentic "played for 80 years" patina that makes shiny new tuners look out of place on a fine old guitar. Set of 3-left/3-right, with bushings and screws.

Conversion peghead bushings are also available for retrofitting Waverly tuners into larger Gotoh, Grover or Schaller pegholes, without doweling and redrilling. A Stewart-MacDonald exclusive!

Waverly Vintage Oval Knobs Relic Nickel Tuners on my 1937 Gibson ES-150

These tuners works very smoothly & precisely, and look just as the original ones. It was expensive but worth it!

One word: Great

They work great. They look great. Waverly's have a well-deserved reputation for being the best tuners on the market, and the new iteration, with Vintage Oval Knobs, carries on the tradition. I know some folks wonder if you really get that much more for the price, but yeah, you do. They are the smoothest tuners you'll ever use.

Ultimate acoustic guitar tuners

Had a set of Waverly Vintage Oval tuners installed on my Martin OOO-MMV. Very precise, beautifully made, and finished out her classic look. Have Waverly's on my HD-28 as well. None better. Alas...if I could only sing in tune.

Another winner from Waverly

I put these on my '06 D-18 Authentic and they are super accurate and no backlash. I don't know if it is the size of the button, but these are not quite as smooth as the butterbean knob model I reviewed earlier. However, I will be purchasing this style again for my Martin Custom 15 to replace the worn Schallers.

Waverly Vintage Ovals for my 1936 0-17

I have a lovely Martin 0-17 made in 1936 that I have owned since the eighties. When I bought it, the tuners were so worn that the guitar would slip out of tune onstage. So I replaced them with Grover Rotomatics, which fit in the same holes. The Grovers worked fine of course, but were heavier than the original Waverlys (which I kept).
So the guitar stayed in tune but was a little head heavy. Recently I saw that Stew-Mac was offering new versions of the originals, so I compared the factory tuners with Stew Mac's very helpful technical drawings. This showed an exact fit. The new tuners did fit perfectly, the screws went in the same holes, with no problems. The bushings fit in slightly loosely, but a couple of wraps with plumber's teflon snugged them up.
Expensive, but very worth it. The guitar now sounds great, and is restored to its proper look and headstock balance. Thank you, Stew Mac.

Guitar tuners

I've had all kinds of guitar tuners in the past 40 years that work, but to me, these "Vintage Oval" Waverly tuners really take the guesswork out of fast tuning on stage or in the recording studio. They also have a smooth action & good weight to them for an overall good balance for the guitar.

Vintage-oval 1930s knob shape

I know now why these are called "the best tuning keys on the market"; smooth, accurate and they look like a work of art, even the box they come in is impressive. I am so pleased that Waverly started making the vintage-oval 1930s knob shape, they’re just as fun to look at as they are to use and the price is well worth the quality.
