Great service, international 4 days, wow these gold ones look like jewelry

I bought a set of nickel-plated round button Waffleback Klusons - aka Kluson Supers.
It was to replace old worn originals ones, one of which had suffered a severe blow and badly bent the post.
The new replacements were an exact fit and screw-hole positions were dead-on perfectly aligned.
These were for my early-mid 1950's Kay dreadnought acoustic (the Elmore James model).
The only thing different about them, compared to the originals, is that the button post is shorter on the new reproductions - so that the actual tuner buttons don't sit so far out from the sides of the headstock - and frankly look a bit too close to the edge of the headstock, and can catch my finger when turning them.
For guitars where the original buttons sit quite far out from the headstock edge, I can't see this as being a problem. I haven't measured how much shorter they are though - so sorry, not as much help as I could have been !!
Oh, as for how they work - they work flawlessly. Really nice and smooth - not too loose or too tight - just right. They look great too, if not a bit too shiny, compared to the originals (very dull and corroded).

The service and promptness of delivery of the product from Stew-Mac is wonderful, although the shipping is a little high...
I have a 1968 Les Paul Custom that came with the Wafflebacks back in the 60's. When I saw that Kluson had started making them again, I immediately bought 3 sets. On my Les Paul Model, I had to ream the holes out a little bit, (not a problem). I pressed the bushings in and they fit great. On my new Les Paul Custom ('54 reissue), and SG Custom, the holes were actually too large, so I had to glue the bushings in. I was not about doing the "dowel stick" treatment, and then redrilling. However, once the glue set up, all was fine. Get those cheesey Gibson tuners off of those guitars. I will also recommend using a 7 mm mechanical pencil and put an ample amount of pencil lead in the nut to allow the string to move freely. Gibson nuts are good for strings hanging up. I plan to take the gold off of those Gibson tuners and see if my dentist can use it to replace the porcelain crown that I just broke. Life is hell...

Firstly the service, delivery etc from Stewmac was excellent. The product arrived swiftly and safely.
The Tuners (20 of 'em)were to replace an identical set on a 1975 Emmons Push Pull Pedal steel guitar. So they had to be screwed into an aluminum keyhead.
My luthier's main issue with these was that the sizing is slightly different (he said imperial to metric equivalent) this meant that the screw holes had to be redrilled to fit the existing holes in the keyhead, as well as some expected grinding to accomodate the "stepped" keyhead. He reported that "the little gold inserts rotated with the drill bit and had to be carefully removed".
All up 5 hours was spent installing them.
In situ, the keys behave as expected and are a vast improvement on the original keys which were worn/wearing out. There is a slight amount of slack if tuning down and raising to pitch but it is a negligible amount.
I am delighted with the result (but my luthier has sworn he will never touch another pedal steel in his life) :)
