Just replaced the big tuners that came on the Martin HD16R Adirondack guitar I recently bought. I have never attempted to do anything like this before & was a bit nervous about doing it myself. I own many guitars, Martins & Gibsons, but nothing cheap to practice on. All I have ever done is adjust action occasionally but decided to do it. I got the tuners from StewMac & jumped right in. I am very glad they have step by step instructions on how to go about it. I followed them to a "T" & it came out perfect. If I can do it anyone can, But I can't stress enough...follow the instruction steps & by all means TAKE YOUR TIME. I want to thank the folks at Stewart MacDonald for their help, the time they took speaking with me on the phone about the process & for having the instructions on how to do this on their site. I'm very happy with the way my gutar turned out. Time to stop writing now & do a little pickin. Bye for now. Stump
Replaced the original nickel tuners on my Martin 000-15M. This was a no-brainer removal and replacement. Use caution when removing the original bushings. These are excellent tuners smooth and stable in operation. There's just something about a touch of gold. Excellent Stewmac service as usual.
Just finished my double cut Les Paul with a "slotted" headstock. They look beautiful and function perfectly. I've owned a lot of guitars, installed a lot of tuners in my 40+ years of playing, building and repairing all sorts of stringed instruments and these tuners hold their own with any other tuners.
...of course they're good. Reasonably priced and they are a great improvement to my Gretsch 5120. Intonation is greatly improved and the guitar actually stays in tune now. The originals were terrible.
These are a great value. I use them on all my high end "alto" guitars. The 18/1 ratio is perfect for tuning on short scale guitars. There's a lot of bang for the buck in these tuners!!
I have used Grover 18:1 Sta-Tites on several guitar projects and they have never let me down. A brilliant upgrade for an intermediate guitar, but they are also at home on high $$ instruments. These tuners not only look great with a vintage vibe they do their job.
Found to be right up with the best med.priced tuners,i use them on all my new & repair work.Tks again stew/mac for selling a nice tuner.Harry(mt man)Shorter Sr.
Very nicely finished. I've used Grovers for years and can't flaw them - smoooooth.
I've used the gold tuners on all the steel string guitars I've made. They are lightweight, stable, smooth, good looking and superb value for money.
Stripped down elegance. Solid performance.
